Yaks and Drugs and Rock and Roll

Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, writer and composer of such classics as Hound Dog, Poison Ivy, Kansas City, Stand By Me, Spanish Harlem, Love Potion No. 9 , Jailhouse Rock and, of course, Yakety Yak, pictured in this month's MOJO magazine (in I think, the 1960s) with an un-named "associate".

Now while it's true that these two could come up with a toe-tapping rhythm and a lyric that even Rick Astley could remember, I think it's obvious that their massive success in the field of popular music owes more to their association with Big Yak than to their facility with a vaguely sexual metaphor and a catchy tune.
