zOMG Big Pharma shoots itself in the foot....

They are doing a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society and encouraging their employees to come out to a "Light the Night" fundraising walk....What are they doing giving money to a foundation looking for a cure for cancer? I mean we all know that we evil pharma shills want to keep everybody sick and are hiding teh cure...:sarcasm: (for the wandering woo).

On the serious side, this makes me happy especially as my blood condition does fall under the umbrealla of leukemia and lymphoma so some of that money will help people like me I think. I also understand that the parent Pharma is working on research directly related to my disease--JAK2 mutation (in case anyone is interested). Its nice to work for a company that is also helping research that is directly related to me...:)

1. Weren't you negative for the mutation?

But have the same condition that people with the mutation have? Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly.

2. Yeah I am negative

50% of people with my disease are negative for it. But for the related condition Polycythemia Vera (too many RBC's and Platelets and WBC's) 90% are positive. My Mayo doc thinks there is some sort of mutation involved for people like me but it just hasn't been discovered yet..
