1. You had cow?!
Dang. I'm always trying to talk the missus into letting us splurge on some prime rib or crab or something. I get a look like I'm suggesting grilled weasels. Thanksgiving is for turkey. Beef. Is. Not. Done.

charlie -- who's already sick of turkey leftovers 10 minutes after the blasted bird is out of the oven.

2. we had a roast. It was lovelllly
My husband and I just have thanksgiving by ourselves. A turkey, even a small one, is waaay too much meat for 2 people. He only likes white meat, and I can tolerate a bit of dark meat for a while but it gets too ooky after a few days in the fridge. And, to top it off, we're not that big of turkey fans as it is....kind of gamey tasting because they add "authentic flavour" to it before it's frozen. I don't like it.

So about 8 years ago, we said FORGET TURKEY and started doing our own thing. Most years it's a decadent feast of chicken parmasean and mac and cheese and decadence like that. This year it was a lovely roast, potatoes, gravy and foccacia that we got from the italian store up the street.

Next year come to my house for T-day. We'll give you some non-Turkey goodness :D

12. That and lack of Vitamin D
I live in Florida. I never wear clothes. I sit in the sun from sun up to sun down naked. It is disturbing to my patients, but whatever. I don't care. Some of them actually PAY ME to put my clothes back on!!!! So it's a nice source of cash on the side as well!

4. You had your hands full last night, that's for sure
and I'm glad they suspended him instead of serving him pizza. Potty training was certainly in order, though.

I had salmon with a brown rice/prawn/white wine stuffing. I have stuffing left over and will probably do it with sole this afternoon, a more successful combo but I do love salmon.

5. I have never been able to really "like" salmon
which is heresy when I lived in Seattle. When I was in cooking school I made salmon every which way you can and it was just...not for me.

The ONLY time i've eaten salmon and actually come close to enjoying it was when it was in a salad on the Asiana Air flight from Seattle to Bangkok. It was cold and very thinly sliced on a salad. THEN it was okay. Not so fishy and salmony. I keep trying it when i have the opportunity, though. As it stands, salmon and organ meats are really the only things I don't find palatable at all.

Last night made my fingers hurt from deleting so much !!

7. It's one of my favorites
but it's so damn expensive and full of gawd knows what that I limit it to a couple of dinners a month and stretch it with stuffing and rolling and other strategies.

My cat the hairy gourmand prefers it smoked and sliced thinly, of course.

8. you know, my cats are vegetarians
Well, they eat meaty cat food, but are the only cats I've ever had that poo-poo milk AND cream, want nothing to do with tuna or any other kind of fish, don't want shrimp or shrimp tails or any sort of meat whatsoever

They will, however, fight to the death over a tomato or lettuce leaf....

28. If there was a God
His work was done when he made salmon.

The Japanese have a way of cooking salmon that I've yet to do without boogering it up. It's seared and caramelized on the outside, and the middle third is raw. Sliced into quarter inch fillets, placed on a bed of radish sprouts, and served with dipping sauces. Or put into a salad with sesame oil dressing.

It's. to. die. for.

13. I've wanted to try Tofurkey
I find their other products to not be bad. I think it's the uniform brown colour and loafish nature that turns me off.

I really miss Trader Joes...can't believe they dont' have them in FloriDuh...they had a soy chirrizo that made my boobs fall off and then grow back on again it was so good. All the soy-based stuff out here is sold by Publix, god knows how old it is, and it's $5 for a pack of SoyDogs. FUCK THAT NOISE. Oh and i Hate Whole Paycheck, it's in Tampa, and their shit is super expensive too.

When we go to Charlotte next week we're loading up on soy goodies from Trader Joes. Gonna ship it all back. Mmmm....

17. OK, this is where I get confused...
One pair fell off and a new pair grew back like lizards get new tails? Then you must have a spare set of boobs lying about.

Or did you just slap the old ones back on your chest, whereupon they magically reconnected themselves?

Come on, the advancement of mmodern medical science is at stake here. From your description alone, it sounds like Trader Joe's Soy Chorizo is more powerful than all the Vitamin D in the world put together. :D

18. Psst. Soylent Green is people?
TJ chorizo is boobs. Eat chorizo, boobs fall off. Boobs are turned into chorizo. Eat chorizo, boobs fall off... it's a virtuous cycle. And lucrative. Too bad about the "soy" subterfuge, but hey, a company's got to make a buck, so shhh.
