The latest in nutrition woo: The Genotype Diet.
From the same woo-woo who created the Blood Type Diet. :eyes: I ran into at the bookstore today.

It is total crap, basically a cross between dietary astrology and dietary phrenology. Mentally I fit the author's "Explorer" type, immunologically and metabolically I fit his "Gatherer" type and physically and am about half of each, something the author claims is impossible.

Except I haven't struggled with body image since my late teens and I'm not a crash dieter.

I don't know details about this book but one thing most diet books seem to have in common is eating real food instead of highly processed crap. This is just a guess (I have no research to back this up :) ) but I think that when someone sings the praises of a specific diet it's because they went from eating processed crap to real food, I doubt it's that specific diet book, it's about generally eating better.

Side story:
I have spent the last week in Germany (Munich/Martinsried) I have hardly seen anyone who is overweight (except for a few that look 50+ and not really THAT overweight) and all the young people are pretty thin. I'm here for work but I had the weekend to spend in Munich and saw a total of 4 obese people in 2 days. There is virtually no junk food in the grocery stores, and it's a very small selection. There is ONE restaurant near where I'm working, most people either get salads, yogurt and small sandwiches from the "sandwich lady" who comes by or go to the grocery store easily within walking distance. This company has ovens and cook tops where people can cook their lunch (how true that is elsewhere I don't know). Even the convenience store near my hotel has produce! People walk everywhere. The public transit is great so you can use that plus walking. Saturday there was what I'm guessing was 2 square blocks of food at the Viktuailienmarkt- fruit, veggies, meats, unshelled nuts, some breads. While there are people who reduce calories and move more but don't lose weight, I think the problem for most of us is eating too much of the wrong things.
