Evan Harris was my MP, as some of you will know. The Tory MP who replaced him is probably not really far right herself, but some of the people who wanted him out were fundies/ woos, who hated him because he supported abortion rights, gay rights, and right-to-die legislation, which was represented by the fundies as supporting euthanasia.

With a hung parliament, the next election will probably be in a year or two, and we hope we can get him back in then - we will be prepared for serious get-out-the-vote efforts. Wish us luck!

Synchronicity Coincidence strikes again! Just today, I finally got around to watching the new HBO movie You Don't Know Jack, with Al Pacino playing Dr. Jack Kevorkian.

As you probably know, Kevorkian was the doctor over here who risked jail many times, to help suffering terminal patients out of their misery.

There's a priceless exchange between Kevorkian and a Shrieking Fundie Woman (SFW) picketing outside his house:

SFW: "Don't you have a religion? Don't you have a GOD?"

Kevorkian: "Yes, I do. His name is Johann Sebastian Bach. And at least my god wasn't invented."
