1. Why take the time to understand something when fear is so easy?

Years back, someone (in GD I think) blamed Bt maize for childhood obesity and they were none too happy when I challenged them on it.

I think I learn about more various subjects just by taking the time to refute obviously wrong scaremongering. If I didn't feel the need to look up the data necessary to demonstrate why boneheaded claims are wrong, I'd probably know a whole lot less about a lot of subjects.
