Do I have this right?

It had nothing to do with the fact that he wanted to make a quick buck.

10. Beautiful.
And sad to say - I'm willing to bet there are plenty of anti-vaxers who would sincerely agree with that statement.

5. Of course
And he is a poor suffering martyr to the American profit-driven medical system (never mind that he fell foul of the NHS in the UK, and saved his career by moving to the profit-driven medical system in Texas!)

12. Yup.
I am in a serious mood, and I'm starting to wonder why DU condemns truthers and moon landing hoaxers to the dungeon, but allows anti-vaxxers and homeopaths to push their conspiracy fictions. Shouldn't there be some consistency in such policies? I know that I have no power or place to make such decisions, but ...

14. I actually went for it, but no answer so far...
... the fear-mongering has absolutely escalated in the light of the press on the Wakefield fraud outcome.

15. It's a RW tactic...
Keep shouting as loudly as you can to drown out facts you don't like.

HANNAH POLING! HANNAH POLING! HANNAH POLING! FORMALDEHYDE! FORMALDEHYDE! FORMALDEHYDE! MERCURY! MERCURY! MERCURY! BAILEY BANKS! HANNAH POLING! SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY!

16. Get ready for it!
I have a feeling that the "poor maligned "Dr." Wakefield" crowd is going to start ratcheting up efforts to shift the argument away from the fact that Wakefield ever proposed anything having to do with vaccines.

17. That seems to be where the DU anti-vaxxers are trying to take the argument....
"I said that there was a link between MERCURY and autism, not vaccines".....

18. Which then comes back to vaccines and autism.
"...and if you connect these tangential dots with push-pins and string..."
