I've been reading environmentalist Tim Flannery's new book Here on Earth: A Natural History of The Planet and the part I'm at now is talking about the REAL awful effects of organophosphate pesticides and heavy metals on both humans and other organisms and I had the thought "people are getting ACTUALLTY ill from exposure from industrial-scale quantities of this shit and the anti-vaxers are going bonkers over puny amounts of a non-toxic form of mercury used in vaccines causing a non-existent epidemic? Our species is so fucking stupid...". :banghead:

Also, I'm not surprised that Flannery made mo mention of the GMO crop hysteria as of yet in the book, like many real environmentalists he has no use of cranky BS.

1. You do realize that the smaller the dose, the stronger the effect, right?
That's why barely detectable levels of radioisotopes in the US are an equal concern as levels well over the safe limit in Japan.

After all, the only safe radiation exposure is zero, and increasing someone's average exposure by 4 Bq/kg for a couple weeks at most is of grave concern.

4. People were freaking out over folks find 10 radiactive particles in the Pacific NW.
For fucks sake, there are probably tens of thousands of C-14 atoms in every breath we take.

2. Isnt it odd that anti vaxxers
Scream about how there is no safe level of mercury, but think a poison like Laetrile ( which contains the far more deadly cyanide) is a cancer treatment?

3. Or that nasty shit used in chelation therapy.
Edited on Mon Jun-20-11 12:28 AM by Odin2005
There is a reason chelation is supposed to be used for radiation poisoning and severe heavy metal poisoning. IT'S FUCKING DANGEROUS!!! It strips ALL the metals in your body, even the ones you need to live.
