One of the most bizarre Christian Right blogs I've ever seen in merrie olde Englande,....
is that of an anonymous Tory who calls himself 'Archbishop Cranmer'. In 2010, he came up with 'Cranmer's Conservative Creed'.

'I believe in one Party,
Preserver of all that is good in our Constitution,
And of Individual Freedom, Limited Government, National Defence and the Rule of Law:
And in one Party Leader, the only-begotten of the entire Membership,
Chosen democratically by the whole Party,
Centre-Forward, Darling of Conference,
Pre-eminent Parliamentarian of Parliament,
Elected, not appointed,
Being of one philosophy with the Party,
By whom Conservatism is articulated and maintained;
Who for us Members, and for our earthly salvation came down from CCHQ,
And was invited by Her Majesty to form a Government,
And was made Prime Minister,
And was vilified also for us under the BBC.
He was airbrushed and scorned,
And day after day he shrugs it off because that’s his job,
And steps up to the Dispatch Box,
And sitteth on the right hand of the Speaker.
And he shall come again with a larger majority to annihilate the Socialists and the Liberals:
And his Government shall have no end. ...

And I believe in one Conservatism, though it be severally termed 'One-Nation', 'Compassionate' and 'Progressive'.
I acknowledge one Membership for the right to select candidates.
And I look for victory at the General Election,
And for the realisation of the policies to come.
Amen.'

Good thing I'm an atheist, because if I wasn't, I'd regard this sort of thing as 'taking God's name in vain'.

Anyway, the latest is his comment on Nadine Dorries. Nadine Dorries, to those lucky enough not to have encountered her, is one of our most vicious, loony-right, Tory MPs - sometimes compared with Sarah Palin (whom she has praised) and Michele Bachmann. She is incredibly vicious to and about anyone who disagrees with her; this at one point involved her going after a disabled constituent who has criticized her, accusing the constituent of being a benefit fraudster because if she could tweet so much she couldn't really be disabled! She is a great Christian moralist, which basically means that she viciously smears the Archbishop of Canterbury for being too soft on the undeserving poor and too critical of the government; that she writes a blog, which she admitted when challenged was '70% fiction'; and that she openly lives in what the Florida Republicans would call Sin with a man who is still technically married - but it's all OK because she is obsessed with abortion and with finding ways of restricting it. She tried to include amendments on the subject in the current (and awful enough in itself) NHS reform bill; but the government have decided not to support her amendment and it probably won't pass. She and some of her supporters are pretty hysterical about it.

And 'Cranmer' wrote an article in his blog entitled 'The Martyrdom of Nadine'. I am not kidding you. That was the actual title. Don't want to link it it, but it begins: 'The bile, spite, vitriol and hatred being fired towards Nadine Dorries is out of all proportion. She is a human being (LB: you could have fooled me!). When you prick her, she bleeds; when you insult her, she hurts; when you threaten her, she fears; when you slander her, she grieves. Just like you.' And ends: 'And so Nadine is sacrificed: despised by her colleagues; rejected by those who promised her their support; another martyr to unprincipled Tory expediency. God bless you, Nadine. Unto His gracious mercy and protection His Grace commits you. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you. The Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace, both now and evermore'.

And best of all - the article is illustrated by a picture of Nadine being burned at the stake! I am NOT kidding you!

I wasn't sure whether to put this here, in R/T, or in A&A; but I thought I'd put it here for the sheer silliness, which may get both a chuckle and a shudder from the sceptics.

1. "Cranmer" is a hoot.
Either you or one of our other Usual Suspects has linked to his blog before.

I picture a guy sitting in an abandoned 1940's blitz-bunker, blogging away while dressed in a moldy black-and-silver uniform under a faded photo of Oswald Mosley.
