A trip down memory lane, and a reminder that religious-right nuttery is far from new
I have a saying, 'Things ain't what they used to be - and they never were'. However, I admit to being tempted at times to assume that the current extremism of the religious right is something new: 40 years ago, there were religious conservatives, and society in general was much more backward on a number of social issues, but there wasn't the same *paranoia* about the issues...

Then I come across THIS.

Apparently by Danish author Johannes Facius; this is an English translation published in New Zealand. It is directly in response to a rather naive, vaguely radical book of the time, 'The Little Red Schoolbook', which was the subject of a censorship attempt; but it is full of the dangers of demons, Teh Gay, etc. And - just wow. It makes James Dobson look like a flaming leftie. 'Twas ever thus. But I do like the complaint that kids get warned to cross the road carefully and not to climb lamp-post *but not to beware of demons*!
