My God, Microsoft Wireless Mice and Kboards are unbelievably shitty
for FPS gaming. Holy fuck, I must've been fragged 5 times in 8 minutes just because the KBoard couldn't keep up. Fucking piece of shit.

1. Go with Logitech.
Their gaming mice go for around $50 but are definitely worth the money. They're pretty handy for other things too such as web browsing and multi-tasking.

2. Logitech is the BOMB
I just got their G5 gaming mouse and I gotta say it just rocks... even at 2000 dpi it's buttery smooth, not squirrely at all. The weights you can add to it on the inside are pretty cool too.

3. Well, here's a computer gaming accessory question....
I'm considering getting my nephew a Razer Copperhead Precision Gaming mouse (he now uses a standard mouse).

Based upon how he handles the mouse while playing games (fingertip control - must be a result of all that piano his mother insisted he practice as a child....) and what I've gleaned from reviews of the mouse, the Copperhead would be adaptable to his handling technique.

On the other hand, the Logitech MX518, is also a good mouse.

Keeping in mind that this is a present, and the price (for him) is inconsequential, ought I go to with the Logitech.

Consensus here seems to be that the Logitech is the best. Does anyone here have any experience with either the Copperhead, the Diamondback, or any other of the Razer gaming mouses (mice?)?

Let me phrase it this way.....

Would any of the Logitech enthusiasts here be absolutely devestated if they received a Razer Copperhead for X-mas instead of the MX518? (Keep in mind this poor kid has been playing games with the standard mouse that came with the computer.)....

I am not a gamer, and have been dependent upon reading reviews. If anyone could give me any feedback, it would be greatly appreciated because if I went to the one person I know who is knowledgeable about gaming this close to Xmas, he may figure out what he will be getting.....

So, I thank you in advance.

5. Don't know much about the Copperhead.
To answer your question, no, I wouldn't be dissapointed if I received a Copperhead. I haven't heard much about it but after a quick search, it does seem to be a pretty good gaming mouse. That said, given a choice between the two, I'd personally go with the MX518. Up until recently, I'd consider it the pinnacle of gaming mice... this is only because Logitech came out with the G5. I've been using a MX510 (seems pretty close to the 518) for a while now and have been very happy with it -- I just can't go back to a regular mouse after become used to this one.

Here's the only downside I see... Judging by the "fingertip" control you describe, the MX series mouse might be a bit bulky. It fits comfortably in the palm of the hand but it is a little big compared to standard mice. I usually play my FPS games at low sensitivity and use most of my arm as opposed to just the wrist. I began playing this way moreso after I started using the 510... so for some, it can take a little getting used to.

4. For hardware, Logitech >>> Microsoft as a general rule.
I got Microsoft's very first optical mouse, the Intellimouse Explorer. The cable wore out where it attached to the mouse, rendering it useless within a month, just due to poor design. Soured me completely on MS hardware. I've never had any remotely similar problem with Logitech mice or keyboards and have had many over the years.
