http://www.whatistheorangebox.com/tf2.html">Team Fortress 2
Check out the three thumbnails for the "Meet the..." video clips in the .trailers section. They're made in the game's engine and are fracking hillarious.

No? How about http://www.whatistheorangebox.com/portal.html">Portal?

1. Oh, very much so.
I about fell over laughing at the Engineer trailer. Very well done!

I'm not a big multiplayer person, but team fortress looks great.

4. Me either. The Engineer is my favorite class from Team Fortress Classic, though.
You get to turtle and stay in the base, build sentry guns, watch everyone else go get slaughtered. It's fun.

"Use a gun. And if that doesn't work...use more gun."

2. Oh yeah...looks awesome
Team Fortress 2 has an over the top humourous look to it. Rather looking forward to it and curious if those characters will do any of the humor in game as well as shoot the living shit out of each other.

Portal looks like it's gonna make me sick. I full expect for my vertigo to be thrown off and for my head to explode in a good way.

The entire Orange Box looks good.

btw. I got a copy of Deus Ex waiting for me at home right now. Gonna play it after work. I'm pretty sure your recs serve it well.

3. *bows* Hope you enjoy it. And remember: it's not a rail shooter like Half-Life 2
Ion Storm simply created the environments, gave you the tools, and let you tackle the mission as you sought fit.
It does have a somewhat steep learning curve, though. Patience will win out (and the game is over 30 hours long, too)

5. I've played it yesterday and it has a bit of a "System Shock Retro feel"
Not as dated as one may think. Not a bad way to make a game. Multiple ways to solve problems and the ammo seems to be scare (save the pistol...)

Defineily not run and gun..although it could be played that way if one wanted.

6. Later on, you can run and gun a bit more.
I found Liberty Island to be the hardest part of the game, honestly. Since you had squat for ammunition or skills, it was much harder at first.
Honestly, the first time I tried the game, I got so frustrated that I uninstalled it and didn't play it for six months.

Someone in the modding community is in the process of developing an updated texture pack to make all the characters look better. MUCH better, from what I saw.
I'll find a link soon. (Someone's doing that for System Shock 2, as well)

Oh, and the Team Fortress 2 Beta is out for those who foolishly paid vALVE the $45 to pre-order the Orange Box. Like me. :)

I rarely use these abbreviations, but after playing it for a few minutes: ZOMG!

7. I've seen one for System Shock 2
Not every one of the models looks better but most! (eg. The ghosts are not updated) http://www.fileplanet.com/125428/120000/fileinfo/System-Shock-Rebirth-Beta-1 It's called "rebirth" and it gives the old game some new life! There aparently is someone working on yet another version. I'd be keen to know when that one is out. Rebirth is the one that made me go back an play the original... Still scared the sh*t out of me.

Let me know if and when the Deus Ex mod comes out. I'd been grateful.

Awesome about the TF2 Beta. Is that humor in-game as well?

8. Rebirth, That's the one!
Also check out the Shock Texture Update Project: http://shtup.home.att.net/

That one's updating the textures in the engine. Combine it with Rebirth, and you practically have a whole new game. I only wish you could adjust the amount at which your guns degrade. That's the only think I didn't like about System Shock 2; the guns broke down way too fast.

As for TF2: Yes. The characters are as fluidly animated in the game as they were in the previews. So everyone has a cool taunt or two they can do, and their character animates it.

9. Update: I've played the game for two days now. Holy crap, is it fun.
Even for this thirty-something gamer, it's a total blast.
I really enjoy playing a medic. Everybody loves you, and when you hit a Heavy with the Ubercharge (invulnerability for 10 seconds)
and smash through the other team's defenses, tearing everything up, it's a total blast. (And yes, the Heavy will be yelling out "Cry some more!" like in the trailer as he's gunning 'em down.)

Played the Soldier, the Heavy, the Medic, and the Engineer so far. The best part of playing an Engineer, to me, is watching the sentry guns build. The animation is so perfectly fluid, you almost forget that you've gotta put up a Dispenser and teleport pads, too.

There is nothing on the market that even looks like Team Fortress 2, and the sheer amount of detail they put into the game makes it look even more gorgeous playing it live than watching the movies.

Now I have to buck up and try some of the other classes.

10. Tell us if the spy is as cool as it looks
Spy, medic, or scout is the way I would go.

11. He is.
The cloaking effect is exactly like it looks in the trailers.
And when he's masquerading as an enemy, you see him as wearing a cut-out mask of that class. It's hilarious.
They're also the most annoying class, 'cause they can one-shot anyone from behind and they're usually very good at getting behind enemy lines undetected.

And yes, the scout is fast as you'd think he is.
