Explain to me why D&D and other fantasy role players are geeks, but

people who participate in Fantasy Football are not?

I do both (I like D&D, Fantasy Football, Bamff, etc). But when you tell people you're in a fantasy football league you get fewer looks of "Loser!" than if you say you are in a gamer group.

I'm curious,"Why is that?"

on note: I am married, I have four children, I have a well paying job and I live and work overseas -- which seems to shock people when I tell them I'm a gamer -- like gamers could never have real lives.

At least that's what I might be tempted to think.

I'd say it is also becuase DnD and other RPGs are written in an alien language, just a C++ or things like Java script. For the average joe Football is not that alien and scrimmage line is part of the national vocabulary. Never mind I don't watch football, but THACO? That is far from any national, hell even regional, vocabulary

only tell my closest friends that I am a gamer.....


my old lady friends don't have a clue that I play

and I am not going to tell them......


they wouldn't get it anyway.


I play lots of different games. got hooked on Diablo
