I finally beat GTA 4 (PC)

Maybe when GTA 5 comes out I'll have a machine that can handle it better.

1. Did you shoot all the flying rats?

I never could find all of them. BTW, The XBOX version is going to have some downloadable content coming out later this year. The character you play is supposed to be one of the guys from the biker gang. I bet it will be available for the PC as well.

3. I look forward to new content

I didn't do a lot of the extras. I plan play it again an do things differently. When I do , I'll shoot more pigeons, do more of the stranger missions, assassinations, etc. I never had much time to play it, but should get more free time in the next 2-3 weeks.

It seemed like it really went fast this time, though. GTA San Andreas seemed to take a lot more playing time than this one.

4. Try doing the stunt jumps. Some of them are pretty crazy.

This map is pretty useful for finding specific locations and other stuff you might have missed.

10. I noticed San Andreas was longer too........

and the map seemed to be bigger as well AND you could ride on bicycles, get tattoos, change your hairstyle, you could trick our your cars and put nas in them. There just seemed to be a lot of small little details that made San Andreas great that were absent in GTA 4. Nevertheless GTA 4 still great, I guess to have the great graphics you have to sacrifice a few things here and there.

5. I thought it was great as well.

I've read quite a few negative opinions about it on some of the game forums. I think it was one of the real highlights for this generation of consoles.

All we need now is a sequel to Crackdown with graphics on par with GTA.

6. I'm about 50% through.

My wife (bless her, I got a good one)) bought me a 360 for Christmas.
I have never played on a console before, and getting used to the controller was a little tough, but doing OK now. (always keyboard and mouse before).
Love It!
Great game, beautiful graphics, good story line.

Working on the Stunt Jumps, Vigilante Missions, relationships, and just looking around and enjoying complexity of the GTA 4 World.
I don't want this to be over too fast.

I waited patiently for this to come out on PC version, but balked at the system requirements.
I could buy 1-1/2 360's for the price of the CPU and Graphics card upgrades, and I already have a fast PC.

8. I played it on a laptop

T7300 Intel processor,2 GB memory and a 256MB Nvidia 8600M GT. It got jerky ina few spots--especiallly when the scheduled virus scan or the scheduled defrag kicked in, but it was playable.

The newer cards of the GX series of Nvidia pretty much outruns the human eye, and the intel I7 looks promising (even more so when the price drops). I figure by GTA 5 the hardware won't be as big of an issue as it was for GTA4.

I just hope they expand it out like San Andreas, add planes again, etc. It seemed there was too much getting from poiat A to point B to Point C in this one. Don;t get me wrong, I don't mind some of that, but they went a little overboard with it this time. I spent a good amount of time driving from Elizabeta's apartment to the old hospital compared to actually doing the meat of that mission.

13. bvar, have you ever tried building your own PC?

If you already have a PC, you can not only cannibalize the parts from it, but you can also reuse your case (and your fans). I built a new gaming system recently for under $500, including an AMD Phenom 9500 (quad core), XFX motherboard, two NVidia 9500 GT cards, and 4GB of RAM.

I bought all my parts from Tiger Direct. It was all delivered less than 24 hours after i placed the order- in fact, the charges hadn't even made it to my account when it was delivered. I'm real glad I did it, too... all my games run, well, better. LOTS better.

Have you ever considered that- building your own machine from scratch (or do you already)? With some games, it beats the hell out of the console versions, because of user mods (Fallout 3 and Oblivion, anyone?).

Well, it's just an idea, if you've already considered it, I can just piss or go fishing :P

I don't mind home building.
In fact, I enjoy it.
I have home built my own computers since my first 386.
My resistance is that the system requirements for new games has increased to an absurd level beyond the point of diminished returns.

My current system well exceeds any of the demands for every other application except the new generation of computer games. It has become more expensive to buy new processors, chips, MBs, graphics cards, power supplies, etc. every year just to be able to play the new games than to simply buy a console designed specifically to play games, and has a useful life three or four times that of a PC upgrade.

11. It took me 2 days of trying off and on to get through...

..."Out of Commission", but I finally finished, too. One of the best games I ever played. The last mission did leave me wishing I'd done a little more practicing with motorcycles. There are still a few "Most Wanted" missions left and a few "Vigilante" missions as well. And, of course, I haven't even come close to popping all the flying rats. Somehow I deleted Stevie's first message so I can't do any of his car thefts. If I finish everything else, the best I can do is 97.5% complete. I might even go back and try the alternate ending, but "Revenge" seemed so much more true to the spirit of the game. It was the first game I've run that really tested my new(ish) computer. The quad core really helped (Q9550) and the GTX 280 allowed me to run everything on high. Beautiful game...

12. I thought it was alright.....

it was shorter than I had expected which is why I liked San Andreas better. It was also missing a lot of the little details that San Andreas had too, like for example in SA you can ride a bicycle, get tattoos, get haircuts, upgrade your car, put nas in your car, fly a jet, fly a plane, get a jet pack, control territory, get more clothes, you can make your character fat or thin or buff, varied terrains, gangs, drive a tank, you could dual wield guns, the soundtrack on GTA 4 wasn't as good as the previous games imo ect.

The graphics were a huge improvement but I just wish they had kept some of those little details that they had in San Andreas.
