What's your current "Go-To" game?
I have favorite games when I'm not feeling like playing a particular game I'm obsessed with ending.

Last year, I remember for about 5 months, my go-to game was Halo(1), starting from when he lands onto the ring until they beam up to the ship. I'd play that over and over. Trying different things out, etc.

Then it was Gears of War. Personally, I always start it at a given level, then play it until I have to do something else. (I've rarely gone past the Beserker)

My other go-to's have been Call of Duty 2, Ghost Recon, and Project Gotham Racing.

My current game is currently Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I like the Rainbow 1 as well, but I prefer the control improvements in 2.

So, what's YOUR current "Go-To" Game?

1. Civ 4 for the past few years.
I keep thinking I'll grow tired of it, but someone's always publishing a new mod, or map, or whatnot.

2. I think my current one is going to be Call of Duty Classic
which I just downloaded for the Xbox 360. Just pick a mission and go. I've also had Gears of War in that slot as well.

5. I don't think we've seen a pro-EVE post here in a while.
Having lost several MMO friends to this years-old game recently, I'm sure curious.

Want to start an OP about it and tell us why it has such great staying power? :D

6. I thought about taking you up on that....

and realized that I'm far too removed from things a that would be relevant to a beginning player.

Suffice it to mention a couple things:

1) It's internet spaceships. 'Nuff said.

2) I came across EVE a couple years ago looking for the real old computer game Elite. EVE is everything Elite wanted to be, and more, but couldn't be.

3) EVE is a complex game. VERY complex. Definitely not a kiddie cartoon game.

4) EVE's economy is pretty much all player-controlled.

5) After 2 years, I've only explored 3 of the 5 major playing styles (pve, pvp, big-alliance-war/diplomacy - still haven't gotten around to manufacturing and market stuff very deeply).

6) EVE's eye candy = teh best eyecandy.

7. Tell me more about the eye candy.
Frankly, from friends' descriptions, playing Eve sounded about as exciting as staring at a bunch of spreadsheets. :D

8. Heh. Depending on what you do, spreadsheets could end up being very important...
The roles EVE players fill vary *that* widely. I've somehow become a semi-big-cheese in a semi-big corporation in a semi-big alliance, so I have to spend a bit of time with various spreadsheets. But my role is really almost totally aimed at PvP.

The current EVE trailer is much more what I see on a daily basis:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq2oxt7Nrxo

Especially the screens around the 2 minute mark. I could set up the screen to look like the stuff earlier, but I need tactical information.

From the perspective of the type of EVE I play, by far the biggest problem with EVE is the lag when dealing with 500 vs 500 (or larger) alliance fleet fights. But the rush, the tactics, and the variety of gameplay roles can't be beat. And everyone in EVE is in the same universe.

10. Still...
When nothing else satisfies, I go to Alpha Centuari/Alien Crossfire, gaming bliss.

12. Yeah, I'm back at it with Fallout 3 again, too.
The game's just too huge, so there's always some nook or cranny to investigate. :D
