And too afraid to try Mass Effect 2 because there might be the same addictive quality?

I got DAO for Xmas and B'day will probably garner ME2.

I'm afraid I'm going to become rooted to my chair.

1. Got it. Played the first origin level and haven't really picked it up since.
Part of that has been my complete obsession with Uncharted 2, but there's something about Dragon Age: Origins that just isn't working for me.

The control interface is part of the problem. Makes the combat a little bit tedious.

My housemate just got a new 46 inch tv so I'm sure I'll be jumping back into DA soon for the visuals alone.

2. The interface is one of the things I like about it (now).
Being able to pause between actions to tell each party member what to do is nice in a close fight and if you program each of your party properly you can almost just point them at a group of enemies and let them go.

From my take, it takes at least a couple of play throughs to get familiar with what does what. Build up a mage with fire, ice and lightening storms and you can wipe out entire rooms of enemies without them touching you. Add Petrify, and the shrinking prison (Brainfart-I can't remember the spell's actual name) and it makes the bosses much easier to handle.

Another cool thing is with the rogue or warrior is the visuals when you take out a dragon or ogre. Awsome!

Another thing I've found out is that if you save your gold and buy expensive items, gold seems to come more easily.

3. I'm playing a Rogue on my first play through
I don't hate it. I just haven't been pulled into it... yet.

4. I just finished a Rogue Noble
and hit level 23. Here's the stats on him: http://social.bioware.com/playerprofile.php?char_id=1166514&display=character&nid=2306374882&game=dragonage1_pc&persona_id=221994334

I liked him because I was never without a lockpicker which helps in some of the quests and gets you more money than a pickpocket. If you get the premium content, you also get Shale, the Golum. And you have a fracking tank.

This (IMHO) is much more strategy based than other RPG's I've played and early decisions can influence the gameplay significantly. It's not the sort of game for a person that wants to go from beginning to end in just a couple of days. This does take time and while I wish it could have a little more fighting and understand that how a first time through does get a little boring when you can't escape through a lot of conversations, but now that I have the different story lines understood It's much quicker.

Human noble warrior. Sword and sheild. Romance with Morigan but didn't let her have the Warden Baby. "Ultimate Sacrifice" ending.
