I saw the 1st 30 minutes of the Fallout 3 movie last night. It was called "The Book of Eli".

FALLOUT 3 SPOILERS.

Don't read this if you haven't played Fallout 3.

I know post-apocalyptia has been a theme in sci-fi for years now. "Road Warrior" "Terminator" etc. but the similarities were striking between the very popular Fallout 3 and "The Book of Eli".

Assuming you've actually played Fallout 3 and then see The Book of Eli, if you don't think there isn't a "page" stolen from the game's art direction, set design, costuming, etc, you're blind.

I know its a wish that will never be fulfilled, but I envision THREE Fallout movies, and for ONCE, a movie actually being faithful to a game, rather than take "the idea" for the game, and then make something practically completely unrelated and completely brain dead.

NOW HERE'S HOW THEY SHOULD DO A FALLOUT MOVIE: THREE MOVIES.

Movie 1) The Mysterious Stranger (MS from now) is good. Quests: Megaton, Wasteland Survival Manual, Soil Stradivarius, 3 Dog, Declaration of Independence (I just think Sydney was a great character), but after letting the ghouls into Tenpenny, gets disillusioned and goes from good to neutral.

Movie 2) MS starts out bad to the bone. Megaton, Tenpenny, rides with Jericho, etc., but ends up neutral after taking sides with Hannibal Hamlin. A sequence with him walking around the Lincoln memorial, then looking down toward the capita with Hamlin's followers coming in makes for an awe inspiring ending to the 2nd movie.

Movie 3) Catching up with Dad, Project Purity, Little Lamplight, Vault 87, Raven Rock, hooking up with Fawlkes, and a teaser for a 4th movie...

It pisses me off so much to see how much MOVIE there would be. Better than the last 3 Star Wars movies, but frustrating to know it's never gonna happen, at least not by anyone except maybe Ewe Boles.

4. Yes. Ewe Boll. The man who has destroyed "video game movies" for a generation.

People not into video games (or into good movies) would never know of him.

Boll's home country Germany give special tax breaks for movie productions, and Boll is able to finance his movies in such a way that they don't need to make a real profit.
