I am the proud owner of Fallout: New Vegas
Collectors Edition, at that.

And I can't fucking play it. Because I'm at my old apartment, and my 360 and TV are both at the new apartment.

GOD DAMN IT.

2. I got it at the midnight release
and I had to work the next morning. The new apartment is only about 20 minutes away, but I'm not actually living there for a few more days (due to getting my pets ready to move). Grr.

3. Got it.
Fun. Hate to say better than 3 but it's better than 3. Especially on that most difficult mode.

4. tonight...
tonight I will finally be able to play it, though not for terribly long. And I'm busy all day Saturday. But SUNDAY... rather appropriate to spend a holy day playing one of the greatest game series ever :D

5. You will enjoy.
Seems to be an advance in the right direction. Just note that the magazines...are only a temporary boost. DON'T USE THEM RIGHT AWAY or until needed.

6. ok
does the game look better? I heard the engine was the same, but I was curious if they might have tweaked it any. Any major glitches yet? F3 had its share...

7. You know how FO3 is Dreary and gray and overcast?
Like DC right now? :YOY looks out window:

It's a hella lot more colorful. Duns, and browns, and orches, golden sunlight and bluish skies...Crisper perhaps too.

I really can't say it looks too much better but I will say it does a little!

8. good
I don't like cartoonish crispness all the time, but the washed-out browns and grays get very old in modern games

and honestly, graphics are MAYBE 30% of a game for me, if that. I mean, I'm playing Minecraft right now, and 8-bit graphics work just fine for it

9. And now what do you think?
I'm fecking loving it!

If you haven't met Caesar's Legions yet (Nipton)? The music alone to the city is PHENOMENAL.

until I breathed on my 360, and it decided that the disc would look better with two rings gouged into it.

I'm going to take it to gamestop and see if they will fix it; apparently they used to have that service, at least

I still wish they would loosen up some customization. Let me decorate my character, jeez...

And Cazadors are GODDAMNED FUCKING RIDICULOUS. Alone they would be hellish, but placing them in swarms of 6+???

11. If it makes you feel any better my PC needs a new Proc.
If only I could justify $200 to the missus. Not likely. Lagity lagity lagity...

I have not met the Cazadors. I have met one of the other new beasties...the nightstalker: a cross between a rattler and a dog. Fast as all getout.

I just loved walking into Tipton and seeing (SPOILERS below for those who have not played)

Mother fuckers CRUCIFIED and slowly dying. Heads mounted on pikes. Two survivors. One crazy baster yowling about winning the lottery and the other with two broken legs.

12. yeah, that was fucked up
I shot those guys; no karma either way, but it seemed humane, even if they WERE powder gangers

Nightstalkers I've only seen when they attacked a caravan, so I had 3 mercs supporting me.

If you see cazadors (giant wasps), run away. Seriously. Think of them as tiny flying deathclaws. If you HAVE to get past them, lure them out one or two at a time, and have a lot of stims. They can halve your health with one hit, at level 16

13. Met them last night exploring north of the old graveyard where they found me.
There's a pass that most likely leads to New Vegas.

Torn through me and my two little helpers like nothing else.

14. yeah, its ridiculous
there is some complaining about it online, actually. Even if you cripple both wings, they're super fast on the ground, though slower than in the air

15. Cazadors seem to be strong against guns, and weak against melee and unarmed.
I kill cazadors with some unique spiked brass knuckles I found called Love and Hate.

be as effective.

edit to add: purchasing some stat implants at the clinic will probably help you. So far, I have raised my Int, End, Agl, and armor. Useful stuff.

19. The clinic is right outside of Freeside, in the North East.
Although the clinic is outside of Freeside, it is still in the section of the map with lots of roads. It has its own map marker so you can fast travel there once you find it.

I believe you can buy one implant per point of Endurance. I don't know if raising your End increases the amount of implants you can buy. There seems to be nine implants in total.

The cheapest implant is 4,000 caps, so you may need to do some gambling.

One of my quests involves going there, actually, so it's coming up (when my game gets repaired). I haven't been to the strip yet, either.

21. How do you like it?
I'm thinking of putting it on my top 5 on my Gamefly list just in-case FIFA doesn't come (which it hasn't the last 3 video games I got and still has a low availability).

The reviews are scaring me. Only a 7.5 and they mention the main story isn't very creative and has a lot of bugs. If the fun factor is great for you then I will add it for sure. I haven't played a lot of different games so I'm unsure if I will like a certain game or not.

22. the story...
Edited on Fri Dec-17-10 02:06 AM by realisticphish
meh. But Fallout was never about story for me, but for exploration (like Elder Scrolls). That said, I haven't picked it up for weeks because of the bugs. They released a patch not too long ago, but I haven't tried it since. I had two game-ending glitches, and it kind of pissed me off.

I think the overall criticism is that it didn't feel new. It felt like an expansion to FO2, which is fine, but it isn't as deep. And the gambling is pointless; they spent FAR too much time on that.

edit: I do think the companion system is greatly improved, though. And they actually HELP, unlike what I found in the last game

23. Thanks
That is helpful.

They haven't sent any game yet so it looks like I'm most likely going to get is Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution because it is "available now". Unless I can think of a better game that is "available now" or has a medium to high availability to put ahead of it.
