A few days ago, a small group of German hackers called fail0verflow found an exploit that could completely open up the PlayStation 3 console. Dubbed as “epic PS3 security bypass”, they found the method to calculate the security keys...

...Now this root key is in the open, anyone can create their own applications, custom firmwares or even pirated ISOs and the PS3 will work with them without any problems. fail0verflow team has said that this exploit will make Linux run again on PS3 systems...

Well. Isn't that interesting.

1. I didn't miss it

I went on a several day rant about it :D See my PS3 online gaming dead thread as well as my MW2 review... I was really pissed off about it... now that I think about it, I'm pissed off all over again, heh, not really but I do miss playing MW2.

In an update to this story though, the rumor is that Sony is going to fix this by using key's like they do on PC games

It's a crappy fix, since it does nothing at all to fix any existing game and for future games we PS3 people will have to enter some big ass code when we install a game, plus be connected to the internet to do so.
