It's great if you are a WoW player but I'm not. Nice of them to do though.

2. after thinking it over I'm going to pass, and stick with free-to-play WOW

If I didn't have so much going on in Real Life right now, it would probably be worth it to me... (edit to add: especially since, as I understand it, players can make actual money selling in-game items in Diablo III's auction house)

Lately though, I barely find the time & energy to play once or twice a week if I'm lucky.
