I Have A Home Now!
I got my SSI arrearage. After I paid the lawyer and all of the bills, I bought a 28 foot sailboat on EBAY for $2500 and am renting dockspace including utilities and Shower and laundry facilities for $140 a month on the coast of Virginia.
It's the best way I could think of to live on $579 a month SSI benefits without giving my whole check to some repug slumlord for a roach infested dumpy apt in a high crime area.
And I absolutely love seafood!
A 30 year dream comes true on the cheap, and I have means to escape when the Bushies declare marshal law.
Still trying to arrange full time internet though. I'll be back here solid when I do

Love you all

Wiley

7. Not just yet Sis
But, I'll be sure and let you know when I do.

Let me know about any DU meetups on the northern neck of Virginia.

And I'm close to DC so in a couple of months when I get my finances under control, I'll be able to help in actions there

3. Congratuations!
My husband shares your dream of a sailboat but I'm more of a landlubber
and was afraid that slip fees would be to high. $140/per month sounds like a great deal. Congratulations again

:woohoo: :woohoo:

6. Way to go Wiley!
I got my SS disability about a year ago. We were able to use some of the initial check as a down payment on the cabin we have been renting. Feels good to have your own place doesn't it? Hang in there bro'.

Woof

And I am not a Republican..... gut the rooms are small.... and $579 does NOT go far. I wish you luck on your boat and take care of yourself.

10. That's great!
The seaside version of the RV dweller. It's the best way to make very little money go far.
