Attention Dis Veterans- Great News
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 01:44 PM by oneold1-4u
I just heard that OR will as of Nov.11, Veterans Day, begin charging only $6 reservation fee to all Dis. Veterans with proof using Veterans ID in all OR State Parks! Hope it is true because I had suggested that all states and US parks should do this for the thousands who have made it back from all military duty and those yet to come!
I hope this is true and other states and the US will follow!
So much has been taken from them all that this a small recompense for what they have given!
Just found that this includes all active duty also! Find the info at Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.

3. Fees for campgrounds and day use
OR campgrounds have not been totally free for certainly over fifty years nor has CA. They have even started fees for day use, just parking to fish or picnic. OR has many beautiful parks with full hook up campgrounds and also group facilities. I presume a group of military or veterans would be able to use these free also.
CA charges even more for state parks and have NO individual facilities at all!
The FEDS now charge fees in the national forests (public property) for parking to walk on trails, ski, snowmobile, gathering, or anything. This is prohibitive, along with requiring permits to gather mushrooms, cones, christmas tree, of just a limb for a door swag. Of course the logging industry can just DESTROY everything while removing the last trees to sell at a huge profit!

5. OK....
...here on the East Coast, I wasn't sure what "reservation" fees were.In New Hampshire we have a new, and to my mind oppressive fee called a "parking fee" that you must pay to park on a state highway like our route called the Kankamagus Highway-a 40 mile transit thru the White Mountains that has been described as one of the ten most scenic rides in the USA.This is a two lane blacktop through a US Forest area that is extremely scenic and you can buy either a one day pass or seasonal pass to park on this road...to my mind this is horseshit-if you live close enough to walk to this preserved area it is totally free-you pay your taxes and the reserve area is a given-no charge. Now if this is a mere 10-50 miles away, you pay the same taxes as someone who lives 200 yards away and can walk and enjoy the buffer area free, but buy the seasonal pass.If like me you pay the exact same taxes that afford that area tax exempt status, you try to get up there twice and try to balance your fear of being ticketed for parking for 30 minutes without a permit against your anger that locals get free what the entire state pays for...IN SHORT it is ALL HORSESHIT....a parked car hurts no one-it is just a way to CHARGE.One more way to lie and steal in america...if I am wrong-tell me what a parked car damages

2. Disabled vets - hell, any vet who saw active combat -
should get in for FREE. For life.

Fuck, they fought to protect them - let 'em use 'em.

And give 'em free health care for life, too, dammit!

4. What this administration took away-
Should be costly in the long run as we demand even more for those who have and are serving! Maybe they will get the picture and restore education, home loans, hospitals and medical care. No soldier going to a military hospital, as many are today for half and all day therapy should be charged for meals! A couple of hops in AF1 and AF1h would cover a lot of meals!
