Ok fellow DUers how does one go about debunking the morons
who know someone in a wheelchair that can only use one finger and has a real real real good job myth? I got an idiot that lumps all handi cap people into 2 boxes, those who work despite their handi caps and those who free load off the government. Wtf, are people that dense? They have no ideal about the disabled yet they see 1 person working with a disability and jump to the conclusion that all can work. He also said that because I don't work my SO's son picked up my bad work habits, yeah right, he was 12 when I first got with SO and he is now 17, damn I'm good at making free loaders, lmao.

3. Ask him where you can get a job where you only have to lift one finger.
Come to think of it, I used to work with a lot of people like that and they weren't physically challenged.

4. LOL sorry guys I just get sick and tired of this crap, after 51 years of hearing
how wonderful working is, though every time I had a job I hurt like hell 3 days after starting and went down hill from there until getting layed off or fired, depending on the business wanting to pay unemployment or not. Then to say the boy is lazy because I was his example, damn if that were the case the guy who raised him from birth to 12 years should have had a far greater impact on the boy then the few years I been with him. His step dad worked 14 hours a day 7 days a week with holidays off. Sheeeeeeeeeeesh has america fallen this low already?

5. I'm sorry you are in pain.
I have a nephew who has autism. He works at a hospital in the laundry room (loves it and they love him) and also gets some support from the government. A live-and-let-die libertarian once whined about that in a chat room, saying it's not the government's role to coddle people like that. I asked if my nephew has it so good, would he like to trade him places. That shut him up.

Or just tell the guy to go fuck himself.

6. Well heres the news article on the disabled guy they are throwing up
http://blog.mlive.com/bctimes/2008/02/bay_city_man_with_muscular_dys.html

From what I read, the guy knows just how lucky he is at having the things he has and he knows that without the help he wouldn't be where he is today. The really good thing is the place he works for has 36 disabled workers and even the company said that was an unusual amount of disabled workers in a business like theirs. Seems the moron squad missed all of the facts and just cherry picked what they wanted out of the article.

8. Prejudice Is Rife
People who make these simplistic judgements about disabled people are completely ignorant of all the other problems disabled people face. Not only are you supposed to compete on non-disabled terms at work, but you also have to face hatred as well.

These are links to a very extreme case:

9. Ugh, I hate that kind of BS.
My disabled lady friend has always had a hell of a time trying to find a job. She WANTS to work but usually ends up doing menial things like shredding paper.

10. Last job I had was at a sheltered work shop putting nuts on bolts
for 8 hours a day and being paid 10% of min wage, which didn't even pay for the gas to drive to and from the work shop.
