I made this for a neighbor girl.In home mobility cart.

I'm not a certified welder or anything-but I do enjoy a good tinker. One of the neighbor girls was over the other day. She has a host of disability issues but a very strong upper body. She manages to get around very well just by scooting on her bottom-legs dragging rag doll. Works for her mind you. But I couldn't help but drag out my old automotive "creeper". A low slung dolly used for under car work. She really enjoyed it but it had its limitations. Especially on rug/linoleum transfers etc...

I made this strictly for in house use. We both live in crowded manufactured homes. The center 2 wheels are 1/2 inch high center.This allows her to use the wheels like a wheelchair. It's actually very maneuverable as such. My kids didn't want to stop "testing" it so I know I have a winner.

And by her smile I think I did. Unbeknown by me-she really needed this. Her wheelchair had been giving her circulation issues(legs turning blue the poor girl). I really hope this helps for that.

I figured I could do something just for her situation. But if anyone wants to copy the design I won't raise a fuss.

One thing I'd suggest is a larger gap between the wheels and the frame, so she doesn't jam her fingers.

9. I did make sure there was a decent gap & no sharp edges.

She has zero feeling in her lower extremity & I wanted to make sure there were as few catch spots as possible. But frankly nothing is liability proof-no brakes etc.

I have thought of an outdoor version-larger wheels & bigger dollies.Who lnows-but it would need brakes,netting for her legs etc...

I did have an oopsie when I delivered it...You can see it in the phoyo. I had removed the seat/wheels to do the painting after getting the bugs worked out. i forgot to bend one of the pins back & a caster fell out in transport. She used it for almost 1/2 hour before I noticed-it worked fine with just one. Simple fix but a tad embarassing.

I kinda wish I knew how to weld aluminum. This would be much lighter then. But it really scoots around well around the house. I gave it to her at a Chuck e cheese where her younger brother was having a party. The shag was a bit deeper than at home but she still got around a good as I could have hoped.I busted a gut with pride-or was it the chuck e Pizza??...

The back is low slung so she can scoot up by herself.The idea was something that she would not need help with. She is very independent & kinda a born leader. I put her in charge at all sleepovers.
