Does anyone get their curriculum from K12 Virtual Academy?
Just wonder what people here think, since K12 is one of the options for K for next year.

1. No, I've never heard of them.
I do use Compass Odyssey and BrainPop (www.brainpop.com), but, then, they just have short, animated episodes with quizzes, and aren't a curriculum, per se.

It sounds interesting; I'm interested in hearing what you have to say about it.

2. Well, I am not homeschooling yet, but CAVA (CA Virtual Academy) is one of our options
And CAVA gets their curriculum from K12 Virtual Academy.

I am curious to see if anyone uses them and what they have to say.

3. Be aware that this is William Bennett's homeschooling company
Yes, that William Bennett!

From Business Week:

"Bill Bennett is no stranger to conversions. The college student who flirted with joining the left-wing Students for a Democratic Society and went on a blind date with Janis Joplin grew up to become one of the most ideological members of Ronald Reagan's Cabinet. Now the former Education Secretary is repositioning himself -- again. The same man who once cast a skeptical eye on the efficacy of computers in education, writing in his book The Educated Child that there was "no good evidence that most uses of computers significantly improve learning," is now plunging into the burgeoning online education market.

Bennett, 58, is chairman of K12, a national school that offers a complete primary and secondary education online. His role: reviewing lesson plans, meeting with potential investors, recruiting board members, and weighing in on senior hiring decisions. He devotes about 10 days per month to the project."

4. My daughters are starting K12 International Academy next year
Edited on Sun Mar-07-10 12:51 AM by JCMach1
We are really unhappy with the quality of and just the content of the British Curriculum schools here in the UAE. It was time for a change.

The Academy here offers workshops and interaction with other students enrolled in the academy.

5. Hi, JCMach1!
So, parents can homeschool over there? Or, go through a virtual school?

6. Yes we can, however there is also a physical support campus as well
K12 Dubai Academy...

I like how the curriculum looks on paper. The actual practice won't begin until Fall.
