I ever-so-respectfully disagree with the OP here.
My daughter has blossomed ... she has gone from being behind, and a mediocre student, to being ahead.

I honor all homeschoolers (and all students); we happen to be doing our homeschoolin' (independent study) through a charter school. It is vitally important to our family, and I'll fight to my last breath to keep it going.

1. Glad to hear it.
You may have noticed I've spent some time seeking to add clarity. As I said, 'deregulation' is GOOD for education.

3. I homeschool one and send the other to a charter school.
Oh well, my kids are happy and doing great. I truly wanted them to go to the nice PS down the street, but it wasn't working. Bad fit and no hope of it changing in time for my kids to benefit. I do think that improving PS is vitally important and respect and honor the work that teachers do, but I refuse to let my kids suffer in a system that was not designed for them.

4. I agree, Wildeyed.
We are SO much happier since we began homeschooling through a charter school (a really great way to do things, for us).
