1. I do recommend "Three Comrades" to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
And if you have, it's worth another look.

I really loved this film, although it's by no means a comfortable film to watch. Made in 1938, when not everybody
was truly aware of what was happening in Nazi Germany (and many who did know didn't want to believe it), it follows
the lives of four friends in post-Weimar Germany. It explores politics without taking an overt stand for or
against anything, although the subtext is there - I wonder how many viewers in 1938 really understood it?

It features three good, and I think sometimes undervalued actors, in Franchot Tone, Robert Young and Robert Taylor,
with the wonderful Margaret Sullavan as the wife of Robert Taylor. I won't give anything away, except to say that
there are no happy endings in this film, but a great deal to inspire.
