http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=254x25We have had this discussion before, and nobody has built rigid barriers against discussion of modern films, but most
of us would probably refer to the Merriam-Webster definition of "enduring" to classify what we think of as "classic"
film. Neither is there an official cutoff point - but 2008 isn't it.
There are other forums where DUers can discuss modern works, and every now and then we do too, but generally as an
offshoot of something else being discussed. But if we tried to start a discussion on Norma Shearer, or William
Powell or other stars of a bygone era on the GD forum, it wouldn't go much beyond the original post.
So that's why we have this little corner to share thoughts and feelings about some of our favourite and beloved old
films - many of them from our parents' and grandparents' generations - but that's why the forum is called "Classic
Film" and not just "Film".
