1. Roman Holiday.

I never tire of watching that film, mostly because of Audrey. She could have just recited the telephone book all the way through, and she'd still be a joy to watch.

But there's always a little niggle in my mind about the male lead – I so wish that Cary Grant, who was the first choice, had agreed to do it. Gregory Peck turns in a good performance, but there was an inherent decency about him that made it just a bit hard to accept that he was not really a totally straight-dealing guy. Cary Grant had a bit more of an edge, and I think would have been wonderful in the part, and more credible (think of his character in "His Girl Friday").
