For the First Monday in October: Favorite Courtroom Films.
The Supreme Court in the U.S. is beginning its session today. In honor (or, given the mind-set some of the justices, perhaps in horror) of that fact, please post your favorite courtroom or other legally themed films.

Here are a few of my favorites:

The Talk of the Town, which has Ronald Colman as a Supreme Court nominee. Jean Arthur and Cary Grant co-star.

Breaker Morant Love Jack Thompson's performance as the defense lawyer.

Twelve Angry Men

To Kill a Mockingbird, even if that creep Clarence Thomas keeps insisting it parallels his own life. :eyes:

What about the rest of you?

1. What a great topic, CBH!!
Here are some of my favorite Courtroom Dramas:

Anatomy Of A Murder, with Jimmy Stewart as the attorney defending a man accused of murder.

Witness For The Prosecution, with Marlene Dietrich as the defendant in a murder trial

Inherit The Wind, with Spencer Tracy, story based on real-life Scopes Trial

Judgement At Nuremberg, with more stars than you can shake a stick at, and great performances all around

2. I've only seen two of those four.
Witness for the Prosecution is first-rate, and Anatomy of a Murder still packs a punch, even if the themes and depictions are less shocking today than they must have been back in the day.

I guess Judgment at Nuremberg could be on the Chris Dodd film festival (His father was part of the American legal team, as I recall).

3. I've seen 3 of 4 and they are all great
Talk of the Town is one of my favorites! I would have picked this even if you hadn't mentioned it, but your choices are spectacular!

Twelve Angry Men - one oddity about it that my husband noted after we watched it last week - nobody has names in the movie until the last scene!

To Kill A Mockingbird - my thread about this speaks to my thoughts about it

Haven't seen Breaker Morant - will look that up on IMDB and try to see it next time its shown!

I am sure there are many more that can be added to list!

4. I'll go with your choices, CB.
I'm glad you included "Breaker Morant" - I think it's a film Australia can always be proud of.

I particularly like "Talk of the Town" as well - quite a quirky little film in its way, and Colman
and Grant playing against type, which worked very well.
