1. well, I'm on Hitchcock movie number 4!!!
I started with 'Notorious' this morning, and I'm now just starting 'Psycho'! I had forgotten how wonderful Cary Grant is in 'North by Northwest'. I'm so glad I saw it again! The only thing better would be if they would include 'Rebecca' next!!!!

2. I saw the first three
but then it was time to switch over to the Texas-OU basketball game (Hook 'em, Horns!)

We watched Michael Clayton tonight on Movies on Demand. Great movie and I think I swoon over George Clooney almost as much as Cary Grant. :D

3. I'll have to look for 'Michael Clayton' On Demand...
we missed it at the movie theaters, and still want to see it-- its gotten several Oscar nods, so it must be good. Did you enjoy it? Are you going to watch the Oscars tomorrow night? Are you rooting for anyone?

4. We really liked it!
It's very intense but it's due to the outstanding performances. Tom Wilkinson is also nominated for best supporting actor. It reminded me a little bit of The Firm but at a higher level -- a little less action, a lot more emotion, but still a satisfying ending.

That's the only nominated movie I've seen so I guess I'll be rooting for Michael Clayton and its nominees. I've read Atonement but I haven't seen the movie. There may be others I've seen that received a nomination or two. Besides classic movies, we've been watching a lot of British television crime series -- Prime Suspect and Wire in the Blood -- so we often see last year's movies this year or next year. :) But I'll definitely be watching!

How about you? Any favorites?

5. Of the best picture nominees, we've seen 3 of the 5:
we've seen 'Atonement', 'There Will Be Blood', and 'No Country For Old Men'. Both 'There Will Be Blood' AND 'No Country For Old Men' were filmed in Marfa, TX. All 3 were really good, and we enjoyed them. I'm not sure who I want to win, as I enjoyed them that much! However, I think 'No Country For Old Men' will win Best Picture, as the Academy (and me!) really like the Coen Brothers. I thought for sure, that Josh Brolin would be nominated for Best Actor for his performance in NCFOM. I really think that he was slighted.

Mr. lavenderdiva really loves going to the movies, so we've seen a lot of the movies with nominations. I think the biggest movies that we HAVEN'T seen are 'Juno', 'Michael Clayton', 'Eastern Promises', 'Away From Her', and 'La Vie En Rose'; those are the ones that I remember at least... there's others we haven't seen I'm sure.

Every year, I don't get to see as many of the wonderful 'oldies' that TCM offers in the 30 Days of Oscar offerings. I always want to, but time just doesn't allow it. That's why I was so excited yesterday, when I could actually enjoy some of them, uninterrupted!

We'll be glued to the TV set watching the ceremonies later today!! :hi:
