1. Good to know.
I know B&N takes a rap around here, but I like the place, especially when it's the only bookstore withing a 10-mile radius (including Mom & Pop places).

But just so we can breathe easy, do you have a link, just to be certain? Thanks!

5. I placed an order with Barnes and Noble last night and felt great.
I usually spend at least $1000.00 at Amazon.com each year at Christmas, plus, whenever anyone would ask me what I wanted, I would tell them to check my Amazon Wish List. Not this year! I cleared out my Amazon list and put it on Barnes and Noble. I placed an order for around $400.00 with B&N last night that I would normally have placed through Amazon and I will probably get my nieces and nephews gifts there as well. I felt great knowing that my money was going to a company that supports Democrats. The best part is that most of what I bought were books and cds by people who support the Democratic party, too.

I'm spending about 50% less on Christmas this year but I'm finding that it's not really making that much difference in the quality or quantity of gifts. I've pretty much just cut out the stupid crap that no one uses and am getting people books, music, cologne and aftershave (by companies that support Dems like Aramis, Estee Lauder, Liz Claiborne, Calvin Klein) and housewares from Bed, Bath and Beyond. I'm heading to Costco for everything else.

6. Is amazon.com "red"?
I just ordered some books from them because their one-click check-out is so easy....but I will boycott and go to barnes and nobles if amazon is red. Please let me know.

10. I found this on Open Secrets.
http://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/lookup2.asp?strId=C00360354

61% red

It broke my heart because I've spent a lot of money at Amazon. Barnes and Noble is 98% blue and the order I placed Tuesday arrived today (with free shipping) so they are getting all my business now.

11. Thanks
Amazon is too red for me.....that was my last purchase ever. I will use Barnes and Noble and resale shops for books.

7. How about Borders?
I do quite a bit of shopping there, but I can drive up the Barnes and Noble if need be.

8. I think they're red
check the boycott thread, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that they were GOP contributors.

12. Thank goodness.
I would be distraught if B & N was red. I practically live there.
