Insurance companies?

I just sold my house, and put another in escrow 900 miles away. I have to give my lender info about homeowner's insurance.

Currently, Allstate gives me a package deal on homeowner/auto. I'm hoping for another package deal from someone. I have to let the lender know who I will go with, quickly!

Any progressive comprehensive insurance companies out there?

2. don't know I would stick with Allstate

All car insurance is hinky and a nuisance but when my home had in the mid five figures worth of damage from a natural disaster, they got the money in my hand and the damage repaired faster than anyone else in my area that I know of. They also paid my hotel bill for the time I couldn't live in the house. Some who had other insurance companies were still waiting a year later to get their repairs.

3. Progressive

I just switched my car to them and got a better deal than I had with Allstate. I don't have my homeowners with them, but they might be worth checking out.

When you have a house fire, you really don't need that kind of delay. So I'm very sour on them for homeowners. It's easy to have the cheaper price if you don't pay claims.

5. I'd also second Progressive.

I don't know how their homeowners is, so it'd be worth checking out with other people if you can, but I do know that their name is what it is for a reason (top exec contributes heavily to Dems).

Also, we just switched our car insurance there after our previous company hiked our rates hugely for the last two 6-month periods in a row with NO justification. The new rate we got with Progressive is much cheaper - in fact, it's even a little cheaper than the rate we had with the old company before they started all their nonsense!

8. not having good experience w/ Progressive

sad to say.

My daughter's car was totalled by a Progressive driver. He was at fault, admitted guilt, has bad driving record, received two citations in my daughter's accident. ( he crossed a double double solid yellow line going the opposite direction and nailed her nearly head on )

Progressive has been slow to respond, if at all, to any issues.

It has been OUR insurance company, 21st Century, that has handled everything beautifully.

It's a good thing we have good uninsured motorist coverage, also!

6. What area?

In some areas, your insurance could rise more than 30% for an accident. Some auto insurance companies offer "first accident forgiveness". Not all offer this...you have to find out by asking. Of course, you have to have a decent record to be able to get the good rates. You might be able to call the Insurance Commission in your area and inquire about it.
Then, if you have your homeowner's with the same company, most will offer a multi-policy discount.
I have Erie Insurance who offers this. Your area might differ.

7. Central Oregon

I chose an insurance provider; in the end, based on who would give me full replacement value on an old mobile home, which narrowed the field down considerably. I did look to see who providers were sending political donations to; most home owner's insurance companies send their money to Republican PACs. I didn't find anything about this particular company, probably because I didn't locate their "parent" company yet. At any rate, the deed is done, for now!
