Doggie-waste composter...
Check out these plans for an underground dog poop composter. It's pretty cool! I think I'm gonna make one.

2. Pet waste composters...

No, it's not safe to use on a food garden or anything that will be ingested by humans. The main reason i'm looking at using a pet waste composter is to keep the yard clean and not have to worry about putting animal waste in the trash. It's probably the safest way to dispose of the stuff, but you shouldn't even build the bin near a garden or water source. I'm not sure if you even really harvest the compost, to be honest. I think that the septic starter and water helps to decompose the waste, and then it drains back into the ground right where it is.

on edit...for good usable compost, try a vermiculture bin, even in the house. I have a good link on how to make one, but the link is on a different computer so I'll post it on here later.

That's probably the best make-it-yourself worm bin i've seen online that's still easy to use and quality. You can keep it in or outdoors, as long as it's not too hot or too cold. In about two months you should have a good harvest of compost, and you will get "worm tea" along the way to give your plants.

on edit- don't use their instructions for finding the worms! Most outdoor earthworms aren't suited for life in a bin. Go to a bait shop and buy "red wrigglers," or more specifically, Eisenia Foetida. They are the best for bin composting.
