My long-haired, guitar playing 14 year old son (he plays a black Schecter) spent the night at a friends house, it's Spring Break, and when he got home yesterday he walked in the door with one of these.
A Hamer Artist Studio.
Seems like his friend's dad, who now lives out of state, was or is a guitar player and gave it to his kid about 5 years ago and the kid has no interest in playing it. The kid cleared it with the mom, who probably has no interest in having this in the house.
The Hamer seems to be about 15 years old. The tuners were changed to Pings, and the bridge was changed to something that looks like a Badass w/rollers. Oh, and the front and the headstock were taken down to bare wood and some kind matte poly was put on and that looks like crap.
But I put a new set of Boomers on last night and fired it up. The action and everything was just fine.....and it rocks!! It's a little quiet for a guitar with humbuckers so I was going to check out the wiring, but it plays great.
Two new guitars in the house in two days. It's been a good week.
