Best way to sell an amp?
I have an old Fender tube amp that I never use and it's a shame that it just sits in my living room. I've seen the same amp on EBAY for $700.

I want to sell it - don't have enough computer skills to do it on EBAY. Where have you all had success doing this?

thanks

1. Use a 3rd party seller
I have "heard" there are several companies on-line that will sell your items for you on EBay for some fee I am sure. I don't know who they are but would guess that a little searching would turn up something.

Good Luck.

2. ebay is good
you might want to give it a try, but there are other ways.

http://harmony-central.com/Services/#cla

i havent been to that specific part of HC but it will probably work fine.

for bassists, talkbass.com has a very nice gear selling/buying/trading forum. you might even be able to sell the guitar amp there.

3. Look for trading papers locally.
In SoCal, the Recycler is a good one for equipment. They are online at www.recycler.com .

Do a Yahoo search on music amps classifieds or similar strings and see if you can find some classified forums.

Word of mouth also works, so post some details here.

5. Its a Fender Deluxe Reverb - has the silver face
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 02:37 PM by Beaverhausen
tubes and 2 10 inch speakers - I think it has 2...maybe just one. I had to replace the reverb tank a few years ago.

Like I said I never use it. I bought it in the mid 80s and played it in a band for a while but it just isn't the right amp for the way I play. A lead player would love it.

I will check out the marketplace

on edit: it looks like this one
http://cgi.digitalcity.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38074&item=3761244947&rd=1

I guess it does only have one speaker.

6. Hey Beav, can I have it?
I'm here in LA county (Sierra Madre). Just say the word, I'm there.

Seriously, I would love to have it. I used to have one. But, no way. Can't afford it. Did you buy it new?

About selling it, you could put it on ebay and specify 'to be picked up only'. I'm sure there are lots of folks around here that would jump all over that. That'd save having to go to the hassle of packing and shipping it.

What kind of stuff do you play?

7. do you have anything to trade?
I am looking for a new effects box for my boyfriend. The one I want is made by Line 6 and I just can't afford a new one.

I bought the amp used in the mid 80's. I would like to get at least $400 for it.

I play acoustic rock stuff...write my own songs and perform on acoustic guitar. I get compared to Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge a lot.

I think I will try the recycler first. The only thing is I live alone and don't want strangers coming to my apt. Gotta find a place they can try it that isn't my home.

10. If you're looking for a Line 6 and are on a budget...
...you might want to check out the V-Amp by Behringer. I know, a lot of people trash talk the Behringer stuff, but I've had nothing but good experiences with their stuff so far, and I've used a lot of it.

The V-Amp is basically their answer to Line 6's POD, and does the amp simulation thing as well as the multi-effects. There's a rackmount version called the V-Amp Pro, which retails for about $230 IIRC. Otherwise the standalone version is about $180, depending on where you go.

There's reviews/opinions out at www.harmony-central.com, if you want more info. :D
