Especially the nap part! I can barely make it past 8pm anymore.

5 - You ask the club owner if you can start at 8:30 p.m. instead of 9:30 p.m.

5. Actually Yes

Back in the summers between my first and second year, and then my second and third year in undergrad, i played at a piano bar in Lisle. (I don't know if it's still there, since that was >30 years ago). I made more in tips that i made in salary.

I went there for $3/hour and made closer to $5/hour in tips. So, 4 nights a week, 5 hours a night, i was making $8/hour.

Good thing i had that snifter out there.

14. That's funny,

When I was 18, I used to play three nights a week, three-hour shows of cover tunes/originals. It used to wipe me out and tore pieces of flesh from the top of my index finger and my wrist. I'd be at practice the next day, wanting to learn the latest speed-fest despite the pain.

Now I just want to do one or two sets, get a drink of water, and leave. And enough with the speed, already....medium is the new "fast".

And my Rick gives me a hell of a crick in the neck if I overdo it. And I'm only 35.

Gone are the days of banging my head full-steam and gritting my teeth through blistering pieces. If I did that now, I'd pass out.
