I've been a drummer, bassist, guitarist, singer, songwriter, whatever was required. I'm currently more involved in writing about than playing music for now, but that will likely change.

Home recorder/solo control freak here, mostly on the sub-amateur level. I play guitar and program loops and VST instruments. As far as genres go, I do mostly ambient/noise/minimal/experimental electonic music...but I'm moving into the realm of Rawk now that I just got a gitter.

8. signing in...
Another home recorder here. I'm basically a multi-instrumentalist that likes to beat on things that make cool sounds. I also dig electronic sample manipulation/looping.

My kit includes, 3 keyboards, a Squire Strat, a set of cheap-ass tablas, bongos, a Roland digital drum kit, african talking drum, a Roland SP808, a Yamaha RM1X, all going through an 8-track MD recorder with final output to a Powerbook G4 running Soundtrack as main looping/composition tool, ReBirth for 808/909 retro sounds, as well as various experimental music software.

On my virus collector (PC) I run Acid Pro and Fruity Loops, but hardly use that platform anymore since I now have Soundtrack (which was written by the guy who wrote Acid, now working for Apple) and generally prefer working on the Mac.

I play mostly improvisational east/west fusion, funk, jazz, avant garde, dub, But will try most anything.

Currently I am trying to get more into the MIDI side of things and am in the process of building experimental midi-triggered devices for recording and performance incorporating animation and video as well...

I have been doing sound for bands since late seventies. I play guitar and bass also, but my main love is sound. I have been lucky enough to work for a wide variety of bands including rock, country, jazz and blues.

Among my most memorable gigs were working for the Neville brothers a couple of times, Irma Thomas, Three Dog NIght, and Norman Blake.

Play guitar and keys and of course sing...pretty well if I do say so myself. I've been performing for over 20 years. Don't make a living at it but I love it and can't seem to stop.

Released one indie CD 4 years ago and really need to get cracking on the next one.

I perform in small clubs and coffeehouses here in LA...I even host a showcase once a month.

Happy to be part of this group.

I'm a drummer and I play guitar. I have recently had an interest in learning how to play Flamenco...but I need to save up for a nice classical guitar.

I like to write songs, it's kinda like a journal for me. Nothing serious...just for getting stuff of my chest.

I've had very little time to practice, but now that I'm finishing up with school...i should have more time :)

37. Fellow Flamenco guitarist!
If you're looking for a decent, affordable student Flamenco, check out Córdoba. IIRC Musicians Friend sells them for fairly reasonable.

I picked up a Córdoba F30 a couple years ago for around $550, hardshell case included. It's got a solid spruce soundboard, is great guitar to play, and sounds more expensive than it really is.

You can play flamenco on almost any nylon-stringed guitar, but a 'real' flamenco guitar (as opposed to a regular classical guitar) has a spruce soundboard, and the body is a bit shallower, too. This makes the guitar "project" a lot more, and gives it a shorter decay time. If you're playing with a cantaor (flamenco singer), palmas (hand-clappers) and dancers, you need that 'extra' volume to be heard.

I've got some other flamenco-related stuff, if your interested. Post or PM me if you want! :hi:

my main instrument is guitar and vocals-- mostly rock, folk and most recently flamenco, believe it or not. I also play (or have played) bass, viola, alto sax, bongos, cajon (Spanish percussion instrument), palmas (flamenco hand-claps, an artform), keys and even synth guitar over the past few years.

I've self-produced/engineered/recorded CDs, even did some digital hard-disk recording about ten years ago, before it was as prevalent as it is today. I've played in the same band for over ten years now, although it's more a hobby than a vocation. My biggest claim to fame was getting played on the local alt-rock radio behemouth back in the mid-90s, when corporate radio stations still cared about local music.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my much-neglected home studio from the ground up, with a mix of vintage and modern hardware. I'm a little old-fashioned, as I haven't jumped on the computer recording/sequencing bandwagon, preferring the 'old-school' way of hardware sequencers and synths. However, I have purchased a portable digital 8-track recorder, so I am moving in that direction.

Great to have a group devoted to all pursuits musical!

I've played out for years and kind of dropped out of gigging a couple of years ago when I started my own company. Besides, getting home at 3 in the morning was getting old - just as I am. In the band I was the rythum guitarist and lead vocal. I play the guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and can cover my ass ( barely) on keyboards and drums.
Instruments I own - Fender American Strat, Hamer Archtop, Rickenbacker 330-12, Martin D-18, Old Hondo Mandolin, a Dozen Harmonicas, Ovation 1777 Legend, Ovation 1517, Bass, a mongrel drum kit, Hammond A-100 organ (identical to the B3 except it has built in speakers) w/ Leslie, a couple of cheap Cassio keyboards, Roland JC-120 amp, Marshall Valvestate 65, Crate 40 watt, Mackie 800M PA, Shure SM 57's and 58's and sundry other items.
Basically a strait up Rock and acoustic rock player.
That pretty well sums it up and I lay naked here before thee. LOL
