Epiphone G-1275 Double neck?

Does anybody have any experience with this guitar? I was working on Hotel California for the band to do and I figured I could use my rickenbacker 330-12 to play the main guitar riff but it wouldn't work for the lead (we don't have three guitar players anymore). So I thought I could use the rick and let the other guitar player do the Feldon lead which "theoretically" would give me just enough time to put down the rick and pick up my Paul to do the Joe Walsh lead, then we could finish off the song together. Then I thought that maybe I ought to look at a double neck anyway since I already play a few Byrds tunes during the gig and I wouldn't have to switch off guitars as often. The price of the epiphone isn't bad, $799, but I have never owned an epiphone and I am leary.
Any thoughts.

1. Crazy idea. After research I found out the..............

body of the guitar is plywood. I'm not going to waste my money. Maybe I could sell the rick and get enough to put a reasonable dent in the price ($3900.00) of the Gibson eds 1275 double neck.

2. You could use the Steve Howe option.

Put the Paul on a stand at playable height and walk over to it when needed, leaving the Rick around your neck.

The only other guitarist I've seen use this sort of arrangement (and for very different reasons) is Stanley Jordan. I've never seen these stands in a music store, but I assume there must be somewhere to get them, or to have them custom made. Even custom, they'd have to be way less than 800 bucks for a guitar you don't really need.

3. I'd Do The Opposite, But Great Idea

I was going to mention the stand as well. It's a LOT cheaper than a doubleneck. And i messed with one at a Guitar Center and they work pretty well!

I'd leave the 12 on the stand though, and wear the 6 so i could walk away from the stand for the lead. A little easier to play the lead smoothly and more audience friendly.

4. I thought of that but it seemed a bit ........

awkward. I also do the lead vocal so it would be difficult to use the rick on the stand while I am singing. LOL, I broke a string once during a gig and and it happened when one of the other guitar players took over to do his lead part. The guys couldn't believe that I could switch guitars so quickly and be right there when I resumed my part of the lead. Didn't miss a beat...Lucky it happened when it did.
I'll see ow switching out works. Then again, I'm a guitar player so any excuse for another guitar would work but that's a bit rich for right now. Hah, and my wife would kill me.

6. Actually, You CAN Sing & Play At That Stand

You do have to use a boomstand, but it's not at all awkward. I was surprised because i thought like you. But, i tried it and was surprised how ergonomically designed those things are. Still cheaper than doubleneck, too!

7. I think I will just do my lead section on the rick.

I'll have to see what kind of sound I get when I dirty it up. My rick will be capo'd at the 7th fret. My job is vocals and the Feldon lead parts.

You know, most audience members won't be able to tell the lead is on the 12 string. This seems like the most convenient solution.

No way we can do it justice with only 2 guitar and no double neck.
It was only an exercise in ego anyway as it's not a great tune to play out at bars. Besides, we have already added Pinball Wizard, Baba O'Riley, Sgt Peppers Reprise/Day in the life, Surrender, and REO's Roll with the Changes.

Yeah, and you know the long solo at the end could end up being a drag for anybody in the audience that isn't an Eagles fan. (Sort of like me!)

It might be fun to play the long solo, maybe not so much fun to sit through it!

Geez, you guys can find two really fun songs to play and hear that would take the time Hotel Cali would take! LOL!

But, at least you made the effort to conduct the experiment.
