Guitars and the beach...
We're headed to Galveston (weather permitting) next week, and I was thinking of taking my acoustic with me (it's a maple topped guitar). I have reservations because in my mind's eye I see strings breaking, the neck warping, etc. I wasn't planning on taking it to the beach itself, just leaving it in the beach house. Am I being paranoid?
Thanks, and I'll hang up and listen...

1. I think you will be fine
just moved away from the beach a few years back - and i have a collection of around 10 - 7 of which are acoustics. I never experienced any problems - but certainly did not leave them roasting in the sun . . . No broken strings, no warped necks.

2. Thanks DrDan
I feel more comfortable about it. I guess my main thing was not only do I really really like my acoustic, but also that there's no way I could replace it any time soon.
Thanks again!

3. Optimum humidity for wooden instruments is 50%.
Galveston will probably be around 70% give or take.

One week's worth of exposure probably won't hurt it, as long as you don't leave it outside for an extended period of time. (overnight)

If you're really concerned, some companies make desiccants specifically for instruments.
