Computer recording--want drums!

I have GuitarPort and now I am messing around with Kristal Audio Engine(freeware)http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/ because RiffWorks was just too buggy for me.

All I need now is drum software(hopefully freeware) and I can create a rhythm section.

Any ideas?

1. I have played around with this one

It's called Leaf Drums. You can add your own samples and they also give you some with the program. I haven't used it much, but my one buddy has done some pretty cool stuff with it. It's free, unless you want to donate.

5. I'm looking for the same thing.

I tried the KVR VST page, but the only free sound modules/drum machines they linked to were kind of crummy. Do you have music software with a soundfont player? You may want to try this page:

You can get a decently realistic sound if you spend some time with it, and you can export to WAV even though you can't save. Nothing can replace a real kit though.

I was going to enthusiastically recommend it as an amazing software analog to a drum machine and add that using its audio recording, included synths, piano roll, playlist and vsts and dxis that any kind of full pieces of music can be created.

And yes, even with the free demo, one can export wavs to use in other programs. ;)

8. I use a sampler called FXpansion DR-005

It sold originally for $60, but you can get it for free now.

It's a VST synth. Run a midi drum file through it and see what happens. It operates on WAV samples.

My goal was to produce a "natural" drum kit - FXpansion combined with those samples (and others you can find all over the 'net) can produce that. Add a bit of reverb, and voila. It's certainly a better sound than the shit I was getting before.

Now, when I want something unreal - a drum machine sound - I use HammerHead. But FXpansion could do that too, I'm sure. I'll continue to use HammerHead for that, though, because - quite frankly - loading samples into FXpansion can be a bit of a pain in the arse.

Sometimes - ehhh - I'm lazy.
