It is always darkest before the dawn.......

The madness which took hold only a short while ago is in full tilt and on display 24/7 in GDP. It hardly seems conceivable that only a few short months ago, John was still a candidate and we were all energized for a new and meaningful campaign and Progressive Presidency.

My, how things have changed.

We are looking at full blown hysteria now, augmented by rivalries, jealousies and self-interests all rolled into one mad, irrational base. As you can see by the return of certain posters, the language after conversion, turns into a cadence most associated with religion and the speech reserved for the most FUNDAMENTALIST, dogmatic, unwavering and full of false and pious sincerity.

This too will pass......

I forsee the end of the mania which has taken hold of the believers at Democratic Underground and across the Nation. Any rational mind, knows there is no SAVIOR in the candidate, no Messianic spirit. Quite simply, he is the manifestation of a mere political opportunist, David Alexander, and the confluence of the right time, with a purposefully BLANK SLATE campaign. Obama is who his supporters wish him to be. Thus, by invoking psychological tools like Projection, his most fervent supporters imbue Obama with THEIR BELIEF SYTEM. That is why they refuse to be shaken in their increasingly shrill demands, they have THEMSELVES INVESTED in this candidate.

Fortunately, all things come to end, even temporary insanity. I predict that the inevitable fall from Grace, a Grace NEVER EARNED, will be the greatest opportunity for the Left Wing to paralyze the conservative/moderates of this Party once and for all. This Country needs the firebrand Populist that is John Edwards. This Country needs REAL CHANGE, not campaign buzzwords.

Courage until then, my friends. Courage.

3. It's insane - and the worst part of

it is the sheet number of new people just in the last two months. My very first avatar when I joined here in August of 2005 was of John Edwards. To me, it's always been about the message. Do Obama fanatics really know what his message is? Here was a good diary from Kos, and of course is sunk like a stone:

4. I've dealt with cults before

They always zero in on the emotionally vulnerable, but once they figure out how stubborn I am, I become a scapegoat.

Ironically enough, this makes me identify with HRC a little bit, even though I don't much like her or care for her centrism. I notice her rhetoric has pitched to the Edwards crowd lately.

Anyway, yeah...it seems the high water mark has come and gone. Time to get our shit together, as the old folks say.

What's your best guess as to what will happen next? One of the candidates will be pushed up, and the other drop-kicked by the M$M eventually, right? It seems they've been kind of shifting back and forth to keep this thing running into the dirt.

At this time on DU, words such as yours are few and far between and I truly don't have time for the St. Obama, reach for the sky and cure all my ills crowd. I just need the courage to hold on--on many fronts

Even though I'm a huge Edwards supporter-have been since his senate run in NC-I've never thought of him as saintly. He's just a man who has made he share of mistakes, but has had the humility and honesty to admit his errors in judgment-unlike others we know. I think that is one of the main reasons I have such problems with Obama and his posse of followers. They can't admit to or have him confess any wrong doings.

Sigh.... I just pray that the madness that has engulfed this site will fall away and those that joined here to cause trouble and mayhem will fall away as well, leaving those of us that have always loved coming here.
