Decide your goal(s) in life and family (politics also if that's important to you), fasten your eyes on it and never let go. Just hang on to your principles and the rest is fluff.

Forget that "he's a winner" mantra that we've heard all too often here on DU. It's morally bankrupt and faulty thinking. If you think you can support Obama go ahead. If you don't that's okay too. Things are going to change, they always do. Obama will go out of style or stop being the fad, because that's really the best description of it, and become tomorrow's Clinton.

I've been betrayed by politicians and gave up on them years ago. It's painful, and I understand what you and others are going through at this point. However, ultimately, I think it's for the best. We MUSt be cynical when it comes to politians!

I've been betrayed by the party I was loyal to... a long time ago, also, but it wasn't until fairly recently that I discovered just how BADLY I was betrayed. Any forgiveness of that won't be coming soon.

I've been betrayed by DUers who SWORE they cared very much about poverty, and about changing the circumstances of poverty in this country, and about me. THAT is what hurts the most. THAT is what has driven me down. Being betrayed by people who play games behind your back when you trusted them hurts much more than some politician. And when you know that they don't care they hurt you, and they don't care what it does to you, then you wonder what the hell anything is about. Is there ANYTHING that's worth all that pain???

In the last analysis, all we have is each other. THAT is what will make or break this country.

And when we betray each other, we ALL fail.
