During this time of great pain in your life, I hope you will read this and find some joy.
Tonight, we have victory. And in many ways, thanks to you. For this has been YOUR cause, as well as ours.
Would our representatives have done this, everything that led up to tonight, without you to help spur them on? Would we the people have had the will to demand health care reform-- or even believe it could come to pass-- without you to air that possibility, during a time when progressives were chastened and demoralized?
I say no. It would have been more difficult for us to find our courage. We would have been missing one crucial piece of the puzzle. One highly placed, credible progressive voice carries a lot of weight-- especially when our numbers are small and our opposition is mighty. And I would say that our numbers becoming greater, our own voices growing more mighty, also is owed to you, and the stand you took when we most needed someone on our side to. Who helped us remember what a strong progressive looked and felt like. Who helped make it attainable.
Always remember what you did to bring us to this point, Elizabeth. Take away what was good and right from the last few years, and take pride in the fact that you helped change the course of your country's history. You made your mark on the world, and it is a very good one.
Thank you, and bless you. :patriot: :loveya:
