Of all the candidates except for Dennis Kucinich, Edwards is the one who is bringing that central issue into the campaigns.
Without dismissing Kucinich, it's important that at least one of the candidates perceived in the "top tier" actually address the issue of concentration of wealth and power and the stranglehold that big corporations have on our political system and government.
For one, I find it refreshing and necessary, as someone who has watched with a mix of horror and disgust and frustration as the economy has become consolidated through massive mergers and acquisitions, deregulation and lack of a competing political message over the last 30 years.
It is long overdue that politicians recognize the devastation that is causing the middle and lower classes and the threat to democracy it poses.
So Edwards deserves major props for finally addressing a core and uncomfortable truth about our system today. The only way we will be able to fix it is if we acknowledge it.
