The Edwards group is Very active.

The Clinton group is fairly active.

The Obama group is barely active.

Telling.

1. The Clinton and Obama people are busy on other forums attacking and defending.
The Obamabots are almost like a cult - and that is just a bit too similar to the W '04 cult we've had to endure these last few years. We're in big trouble as a nation if we allow big business and the media they own to choose our next President, and that process appears to be well under way.

Are people really that stupid that they can't put 2 and 2 together? Or are they addicted to the Kool-Aid? :(

2. Hard to say Andy-
It seems the people on DU would be smart enough not to want the media manufactured candidate. I take solace in how well John does on the polls here. Perhaps Edwards Supporters are less vocal and steadfast than the others... I donno.

3. Hey, rocky, at this point I just don't know. But.......
maybe "we" here, the Edwardians, are a parallel to those who passionately supported Ned Lamont, here, on DU. Lamont had tons of support on the "net" but it couldn't get him past Lieberman in the general. I just don't know, and can not for the life of me get a handle on what is going on in the hinderland

Perhaps it is a case that anyone who would bother with DU, is passionate about their politics...and thus, that explains the high support for Edwards here. Smart passionate engaged people, who not only care, but their caring goes above and beyond and outreaches to their fellow man. Which is what Edwards is all about.

For as much as we know about politics.....there is twice the amount of what we don't know.

5. And, about Lamont... John Edwards was the only Dem who went to CT to campaign for him!
That was my personal turning point with Edwards, so bringing this up is important to me.

It was clear that John made a deal with Ned, something to the effect that "I'll come campaign for you, if you agree to make poverty a priority in your campaign."

Because, sure enough, when Lamont came on stage, the first thing he did was to apologize for not making poverty a priority in his campaign!

That won me over--NO OTHER DEM has spoken for me in that way, and told other Dems to get serious about poverty! NONE.

7. Good point Ninga-
Life has taught me: Being right doesn't make you a winner every time. There are a lot of people out there that have taken second, while being right.

Let's try to change that this time. Shall we?

one helluva passionate group, aren't we? ;) I don't embrace much that I can't - in good conscience - go ALL OUT for. As far as JE goes, my conscience is as clear as a diamond! :applause:

6. I've tried so very hard....
not to comment on some of the nasty, vicious threads sprouting up all over DU, but this site has become almost unreadable. All I want to do is get info and support Edwards and its getting hard.

I've noticed a lot of new people here, mostly supporting Obama who are some of the most vicious--attacking Edwards, and Hillary. Has anyone else notice this trend?

It is getting really unbearable.

8. Here's my approach
While I've yet to reach the 1000 post marker, I've actually attended DU for quite some time. Initially, I had trouble with posting and logging on. I kinda gave up doing anything but reading for a time. But as the takeback of congress and the looming presidential contest started to gather steam, I registerd anew for to post on DU.
DU is my primary time dissolver of a give day lately. There's another totally unrelated forum where I've been the top poster since it started in late '04. It's a technical forum and I've dispensed much advice there based on my 30+ years of dealing with the devices that are the forum's focus. That forum has gotten little time from me of late as I started to aim at making whatever noise I could to promote John Edwards.
While I'm retired and I have the luxury of spending a LOT of time at this keyboard, I have a wife and pets and other things that I MUST attend to thru the course of any given day. I value the time I spend on DU. I haven't even BEGUN to explore all it's facets and folds and I'm still struggling sometimes to decipher the cryptic acronyms that are peculiar to DU.
I DO look at some of the swirling dogfight threads if someone posts a link and a "hey! lookit this!" comment - but I don't do it often. Why? Well, BTDT and not even on this or any other political website. It's just a waste of time and it only contributes to my carpel tunnel woes.

When I come to DU each day, I scan the video stack on the left to see if there's anything I wanna look at. Next I scan the hot topics to see if any of them mention Edwards. I'll look and maybe post if I feel moved to do so and then I come to the Edwards support group and take part as I see fit. I'm looking for like-minded folks to hang out and interact with. Since it's something I choose to do (as opposed to something I HAVE to do), I want it to be something I feel uplifted by.
It's not a head-in-the-sand approach - it's a "how-do-I-spend-my-precious-time" approach.

I believe in Edwards. I believe he'd do the best job as president and I believe he's getting the shaft from the MSM - on purpose, no less. Until he ceases to seek that office, I'll be behind him. I'll be behind him after SC and after NV and after Feb.5th so long as he hangs tuff.:patriot:

I do calls, I send funds, I write letters, I vote in "who-would-you-vote-for" tallies and I k&r threads that are prompted here. I even try to keep a presence in my other cyber-realm as well. But I don't need to avail myself to the venemous vitriol of zealous detractors/promoters of the other candidates. Period.
