Out of time, so pleeeez excuse sloppy writing, etc. I'm writing fast from excitement. :)
Just spoke with the woman who is really with me on bannering for Edwards. The bad news... the friend/neighbor she expected to join us died suddenly and unexpectedly Tuesday night. She's pretty torn up about it.
When I told her that we had been sent $$$ support for materials to start our bannering project, her whole face lit up. I wish you could have all seen that excitement. She said she'd like a yellow posterboard, so yellow it is for her. I told her we were being sent some buttons, bumperstickers, and a bit of literature, and she grinned so big... "I can't wait to put a bumpersticker on my car!" Keep in mind that she commutes I-70, so her sticker will be viewed by many!
We have set Monday as our first bannering day, and it may well be just her and me, but we certainly have the enthusiasm. I fully expect, from past experience bannering at the same location for Kerry, that we will get many folks stopping and asking for literature, stickers, and to join in!
When I told her that there was a Caucus for Edwards Training, she again lit up. Then, her face clouded, and she said, "How much does it cost?". When I said "Nothing", she practically bounced in her seat, and really got excited.... "It's free? Caucus training for free??" The sad thing is she has to work that afternoon, and she was so disappointed. Later, she said, "Caucus training... couldn't they have it in the evening?" I so wish this fit for her!
She's never caucused, and I know she's a bit worried. But, I also trust that she will be there. I wish you ALL could have seen her eyes light up. So many of us poor folk have NEVER been approached, and considered important and valuable to the effort. Please consider reaching out, and see if you don't find one or two people who would LOVE to be included!
When I got to the library, I saw another woman I've been wanting to contact. I mentioned us bannering for Edwards, and right away she said, "He's the only one talking for us." She's already there. More importantly, she offered her address for receiving literature, dug for some change and said, "Please make some copies of Edwards on poverty", and is enthusiastic, although in a different style from Eddie. She works evenings, so we will banner in the morning. When I started this, I knew that it might mean I was out there both morning and evening. That works for me!!
I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see the response of people who aren't used to being sought out.
PLEASE, TRY THIS AT HOME! :) :hi: :)
Onward, Poor Folk For Edwards!
We will now need your well-wishes... come to think of it, if you post some well-wishes on this thread, I'll print 'em out to share with my budding Edwards Booster Club!
Thanks, all!
