I'm convinced, as JE must be, that sooner or later something will turn on Obama. The man never met a Conservative cause he couldn't embrace. "Two Americas" has already written brilliantly as to the makeup and composition of the average Obama supporter, the "latte liberals".
The Reagan references were unforgivable and no matter the attempted after the fact spin, there is no way to analyze the remarks other than their intended purpose...to pander to crossover voters. This is in keeping with Obama's conciliatory speech towards Conservatives and his "bi-partisanship" and willingness to throw true core Democratic Principles under the bus.
Well, he has done it again. The Donnie McClurkin matter is a festering wound in the GLBT community, and with the Pastor Caldwell stepping into the breach, Obama's true Theocratic stripes are showing. Caldwell is none other than one of Bush's Texas spiritual advisors and a strident anti-gay minister , like McClurkin. He will be stumping for Obama in the South.
There can be no interpretation of Obama's motives and his failure to distance himself, than the fact he is taking another calculated cynical approach to PANDERING for Conservative votes and the Black vote, banking on the latters inherent distrust of gays.
I never thought Obama was electable. With his throwing of liberals under the bus and the GLBT community as well, it won't be long until he alienates everyone who has true Democratic values. I don't think his candidacy can survive all these hits, and I'm sure there will be more mistakes to come.
This guy has a "Howard Dean Moment" coming soon. I can feel it.
Stay strong fellow Edwards fans. We are backing the right candidate.
