FYI, I am supporting Edwards

I am running out of people to support. I started with Dennis Kucinich because he best represented my views. I switched to Biden because he spoke with clarity and he would have ended the war swiftly. I loved Dodd when he challenged Harry Reid on amnesty for the telecom industry.

They are all gone now, so my choice is between Obama, a man that has been too comfortable with homophobes, and Edwards. To his credit, Edwards has been a staunch spokesman for the working class. I know that if Edwards were President, he would be a champion of working men and women.

Like I said, I am running out of people to support.

I was genuinely dismayed to hear of Dennis' decision to pull out of the race today. Man - you GOTTA love that guy's tenacity and purity of focus. I've been aligned with Dennis' aims ever since I was aware of him. Thing is, the MSM treated him unfairly (to a greater degree than they slander Edwards!) and I didn't see him breaking thru that bubble to ascend to the oval office because of that.

Edwards HAS fine tuned his message in 4 years, but that's OK with me. I don't want a president that can't observe the current and adjust the sails accordingly. And what John's saying is gonna make it hard for him to not AT LEAST do his best to deliver.

If you watch the debates, it's intriguing (at least to me it is) to watch the faces of his two opponents while he speaks of his being the only one not to take corporate monies. The other two aren't shaking their heads in denial - they're not refuting his claims when they have a chance to do so. NOT saying anything can say as much as a lengthy excuse.

People forget that politicians represent us. We aren't electing a Pope or hiring a corporate CEO. We are selecting someone to represent our best interests, not looking for some celebrity whose interests we are then asked to represent.

That is the problem with all of the advocacy for the other two candidates here. It is all backwards. If our position is "I support Obama because he is the best" then what is there about is for him to represent? Those people represent the candiate, they aren't looking for a candidate to represent them.

In a democracy, the politicians follow us - they should change, they should listen. If all they hear back from us is "we love you and we will represent you and support you no matter what" we might as well not exist and democracy collapses.

I am a long time Kucinich supporter, and had something of an epiphany. Rather than "choosing" the candidate who "best matched my views" as a personal expression of my values - like selecting a consumer item when shopping - I suddenly realized that Edwards would create the best climate for everyone that shared my views, and make it much easier to expand the number of people sharing my views. See what I am saying?

If I support Dennis, I am supporting one. If I support a candidate who is re-defining the political landscape and creating a new context, and maybe I am supporting thousands of Dennis' - yet to come or not being heard.

Within a context of the party strongly standing for the have-nots versus the haves, and returning to its traditional roots, then people like Dennis are not such a rarity anymore and don't have such a difficult time.

It is the context - a relatively few people controlling and dominating the many - that is the problem, not the content - Kucnich's views on the issues. Change the context, and the content becomes much easier to change. Hammer away on content without changing the context, and there is continual frustration and failure.

I, too, am sorry to see Kucinich drop out, although I've always supported John Edwards this cycle. One big reason is his support of the poor and middle class. He not only talks about it, he's done real work on it.

My interests were best represented by Dennis Kucinich as well, but I just didn't see any chance for him to get the nomination, which is why I've been supporting John Edwards.

I just can't support Barack for the same reason you stated, plus I'm concerned that his relationship with Rezko is going to come back to take him down - no doubt by the GOP, and no doubt right before the election. The story I read about Barack allowing people to be cold in his district in one of Rezko's slum buildings tells me the man is not what he says he is.

And we all know what Hillary is, and I will vote for her if she's the nominee, but that's mostly because I think she is better suited to endure the GOP attack machine if she's the nominee. She's been through it before. But I don't like her taking money from the lobbyists, as I hold them responsible for much of the bad legislation that has been passed in recent history.

I think Edwards will be a fine President, and he's tough enough and smart enough to get America through the mess Bush has given us.
