Attention spans aside, we need to get down to some very serious grassroots efforts in
on behalf of Edwards.

We need to think and act "out side of the box" and "outside of DU" where the rest of the world is being overwhelmed with lit, and overwhelmed with phone calls.

I have a friend who is working on being able to burn a CD (cheaper than a DVD) with the MLK,III youtube of his letter to Edwards. People might be receptive to something creative, especially if sent by a regular voter like them. If he is successful, then i will let you know and anyone who wants instructions will have to PM me for them. I will not post them in public.

We need to flood the Super Tuesday states with contacts to friends, family, and newspapers with emails about Edwards.

Here is a PDF of the MLK, III letter to Edwards, to print and distribute.

http://www.johnedwards.com/news/20080121-mlk-iii-letter.pdf

By the way, the Clinton/Obama food fight for the "values and perception" voters....is wearing thin. We need to recognize this as an opportunity to strike, and strike big.

Good work Ninga.

Thank you. Let's just think of this as the Amway of politics. Sort of a pyramid scheme.
Let's build support (voters) by pushing product (MILK letter, etc.)

I wish I could take full credit for this, but I met up with some amazing minds in Charleston, and they inspired me.

3. OMG not Amway!!
Do you have any idea what a force for reactionary politics the Amway people are in Michigan? How tight they are with Bush? Their connection to Blackwater? Their funding of right wing political movements?

Just giving you a hard time, Ninga. ;)

How about the Committees of Correspondence for a model? They used hand presses, distributed their literature on horseback, and had to get the information to an illiterate public - have them read to people once they arrived in a town - and would get hanged if they were caught. We have more advantages, less risk and an easier job in front of us then they did.

4. You little Paul Revere, you. I'm from Michigan, I know Amway, and we are no Amway ! Just pulling
your let and having a bit of fun.

Got your attention, though, didn't I???!!

By the way, let's forget right now, the hanging stuff. I'll cut, paste, print and crank the press by hand, but forgetabout hanging.

Onward and upward !!!!

5. good old Michigan
Blue collar working class to the core, melting pot of the country, scene of so many great battles for workers rights, and there is so much suffering there now.

Did you notice what happened in Macomb county in the mid-terms? That was the ultimate example of the "Reagan Democrats" phenomenon back in the 80's. They are all coming back home now. Almost every rural county - Republican since forever - moved strongly toward Democratic, as well.

6. the 1980 Presidential election was a watershed and many people turned their backs on
their union backgrounds. Those auto workers who had 2 cars and a chicken in every pot, thought they were Republicans. Look at them now. Turning to the Dem's, looking for jobs.

I live in Ohio now, and it is another state to watch. Ohio is such a diverse state..but mark my word....Ohio is not a slam dunk for the Dem's in Nov.

7. Kicking for Grassroots Activism!
I'm looking for a good flier that I can print out and stick around town on grocery store bulletin boards, etc.

I'm also still a strong advocate for getting this message out on OTHER message boards. DU is great but we are pretty much preaching to the choir here. Forums and message boards that get a national audience, facebook and myspace, digg, youtube. Never underestimate the power of the netroots.

Thanks Ninga!

9. Not only message boards...
Most liberal blogs have comments. If you do comment, be careful...don't hijack the topic. Weave something in that directly relates to the topic, and of course, sigs are your friend!

I like the CD idea...I like a DVD even better; I've got a whole slew of DVDs just ready for something to be burned onto them. I'll try to find time to work on that. (Job hunting takes up a LOT of time)

11. Good points!
And not just liberal blogs. Newspapers in Super Tuesday states are a good place to check for message boards and places where you can leave comments after articles. The latter is very important because even a positive article about John can get derailed by negative comments.

At this stage of the game, I don't even worry about a lot of content in my messages on other boards, articles, etc. It's more about just keeping John's name out there and saying "I'm voting for John Edwards." I try to stay polite and non-argumentative. If I start a thread on a message board and get one positive comment and two negative ones, I respond to the positive one. If there is an option for quoting it, that's even better. My target audience isn't even the other posters, it's the lurkers. The folks that might be considering John, but dismissing him because they don't see others talking about him.

It's hard being a newbie on a message board, but I strongly encourage everyone to check the paper in their area and sign up for the board if it has one. Around election time, there are a lot of newbs, so you don't really stand out unless you are acting obviously spammish. (new word-lol) I mostly try to find Edwards threads and bump them if I can.

Sorry for rambling.

13. Thanks for that link!
I really, really hope that all the Edwards supporters in Super Tuesday states will go to that link, find their state and check out all the papers to see what opportunities there are for reader input.

I'm looking at some national sites too. There is one board I'm getting ready to go into but I'm going to need back-up because no one is talking about Edwards on it and there are a lot of dumbfucks on the board. Anyone interested can pm me and I'll let you know when I go in and give the link. I wouldn't even venture in the one I have in mind but it gets a lot of traffic and it's a demographic we need to address. I probably won't get to it until later tonight. It definitely needs some Edwards love-page after page of Obama/Clinton stuff.
